Anyone thinking about this: DO IT!! I went on the hike last year and it was a
fantastic time. Unfortunately, I won't be around this year. :-(

[denverultimate] Wanted: Volunteer Hikers
Calling all Ultimate hikers!Who wants to spend a glorious day hiking a Colorado
14er with a bunch ofteenagers from Cyprus? We are looking for volunteers to help
support thesafety and enjoyment of these young people. They will be in the midst
of athree week long conflict resolution program, and the mountain climb is a
keypiece of their experience. The volunteers play a vital role and have agreat
time hiking with the different groups. Below is the information aboutthe two
different hikes. Please let me know if you are available and wewill take it from
there. While we will be leaving from each trailhead earlyin the morning, there
are camping locations near each hike, and if you needsomething a little less
rustic, we can arrange something at the locations wewill be staying at for a
small cost. These are both great Colorado Hikes -the first one is 14, 003 feet,
with a steady ascent in a remote area.*Wed., July 9th - Mt Huron - **Leadville*

<
http://14ers.home.comcast.net/~14ers/huron/trip.html> is 14, 003feet, with a
steady ascent in a remote area. It is a beautiful hike with astellar view of the
Gore range from the top. There is plenty of trailheadcamping for people that
want to do that. Otherwise you should meet us atColorado Mtn College, Leadville,
at 4:30am for a 5am departure. You canspend the night at CMC as well - we just
need to know beforehand ($25-$35per person I think). We would like to be at the
trailhead at 5:30am, andstart the hike asap.*Monday, August 11th - Mt. Audubon,
Indian Peaks Wilderness* - justwest of Boulder - In the Brainard Lake area - $8
car - we would meetat the entrance station at 5:15 am. This one is a classic
Indian Peakshike - lakes, great forests, flowers, cliffs, etc. An easier
ascentthan Mt. Huron. If people want to spend the night at Balarat, let meknow
and I will see how that would work. There is plenty ofpay-camping at Brainard
Lake. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are interested andavailable
in participating in this great experience. You can easily link to a discussion
board of this announcement to askquestions, see updates, etc. -
