Calling all Ultimate hikers!
Who wants to spend a glorious day hiking a Colorado 14er with a bunch of
teenagers from Cyprus? We are looking for volunteers to help support the
safety and enjoyment of these young people. They will be in the midst of a
three week long conflict resolution program, and the mountain climb is a key
piece of their experience. The volunteers play a vital role and have a
great time hiking with the different groups. Below is the information about
the two different hikes. Please let me know if you are available and we
will take it from there. While we will be leaving from each trailhead early
in the morning, there are camping locations near each hike, and if you need
something a little less rustic, we can arrange something at the locations we
will be staying at for a small cost. These are both great Colorado Hikes -
the first one is 14, 003 feet, with a steady ascent in a remote area.
*Wed., July 9th - Mt Huron - **Leadville* -

. This one <http://14ers.home.comcast.net/~14ers/huron/trip.html> is 14, 003
feet, with a steady ascent in a remote area. It is a beautiful hike with a
stellar view of the Gore range from the top. There is plenty of trailhead
camping for people that want to do that. Otherwise you should meet us at
Colorado Mtn College, Leadville, at 4:30am for a 5am departure. You can
spend the night at CMC as well - we just need to know beforehand ($25-$35
per person I think). We would like to be at the trailhead at 5:30am, and
start the hike asap.
*Monday, August 11th - Mt. Audubon, Indian Peaks Wilderness* - just
west of Boulder - In the Brainard Lake area - $8 car - we would meet
at the entrance station at 5:15 am. This one is a classic Indian Peaks
hike - lakes, great forests, flowers, cliffs, etc. An easier ascent
than Mt. Huron. If people want to spend the night at Balarat, let me
know and I will see how that would work. There is plenty of
pay-camping at Brainard Lake.
Please let me know as soon as possible if you are interested and
available in participating in this great experience.
