As far as a location, I personally think we should make it visible to everyone. I think that the spot we had last time (just right of our current meeting place) is ideal. Everyone can find it (even by accident if needed). It is very close to the edge of the path, so we can jump on and off to make laps, and we can flag new people down fairly easily, and the port-o-pottie is close as well (but not too close).
Not to mention, I don't want to get lost and be late to my own BBQ
Like I said this is my preference, but I don't want a mutiny. If everyone wants somewhere else, so be it.
For those who don't know where I am talking about, I'll do my best at describing the location (I suck with directions). If anyone can do a better job please elaborate.
Our current meeting place is the parking lot off of Downing and Exposition. If you were to keep going just past the parking lot on the right up the path, the first set of picnic tables on the right across from the water fountain is where I am talking about. There is also a playground for kids right near there.
Sam, if you are talking about skating around the park durring the BBQ... ABSOLUTELY. We'll be eatin', drinkin', havin' fun and skatin'

Last night we had 7 brave souls come out after a BIG weekend and ride Lair of the Bear.It was cool so nobody labored too badly.Once again,we had all men,no women. Is it our deodorant, our mouth wash or am I picking rides that are too tough?I'm assuming the rides are the problem,so we're scaling back a bit.
Next Ride:
BEAR CREEK LAKE
Meet at 5:45,Ride at 6:00PM at the parking area opposite the Conoco, just west of theC470-Morrison Rd interchange.
Most of you know this ride as an easy one,but still fun for all. Please RSVP,in the positive only,on the day of the ride.
I will bring some bottled water. we may need it if its
hot which it should be. looking forward to meeting all
of you and doing some skating.

Karen suggested we meet over by the "cut" since there is parking, etc.
right there, and we could set up cones. However, if part of the
motivation is to attract new members, it is out of the way, and no-one
would see a sign.
Your call Micah since you have done most of the organizing. But I
think you should repost location.
It was also suggested that we maybe bring our own grill(s) just in
case the space is taken... (no I have not reserved the spot -- but
that hopefully shouldn't be a problem). I may have access to one
charcoal grill, but another would be good to have (since it looks like
we will have a good turnout).
Anyone wanna make a banner that says something related to "Denver
Inline Skate Club" so newcomers will have an idea who we are... any
volunteers??
Well here is the updated list (once again). It looks like we may need
more drinks...maybe? What does everyone else think?
Here is the updated list thus far:
Rachel Jablon --- a caprese salad (mozz, tomato, basil).
Karen Kalafat --- something tasty and homemade :-)
Kimetha King --- a couple of packages of meat and 1 package of paper plates.
Lillian Connelly --- platter of raw vegetables
Debbie Saunders --- brownies or cookies or both.
Steve Schwandt -- Lasagnes, brat buns
Kon Wyatt -- a bunch of plates, plastic-ware, napkins, condiments, etc.
brats, wine, some sode, 12ver of Becks beer
Patrick --- Tortilla chips and store bought salsa
Micah --- some more Beer (of some kind), charcoal and fire, maybe some
homemade fudge and cookies.... and probably some other stuff as well.
Juggling paraphernalia
(basically whatever else we need that isn't being brought).
David Cantu --- chips and 12 pack of rolling rock
Amy --- probably fried chicken wings and some kind of veggie, salad or
something. Maybe homemade mac~n~cheese for the vegetarians..
Benjamin Winter --- carbonated beverages of the non-alcoholic
type...pop, soda, or coke. and hamburgers / buns.
Julianne O'Dwyer -- hamburger meat to barbecue

Ann, the cookout will be starting "officially" at 6:00pm. I however
(along with a a few -- or more people -- will be getting there
earlier). I may get there closer to 4 to make sure we are set up and
have a spot.

How was the bike ride yesterday? I'm getting into mountain biking and hope you have more rides in the future. I'd love to join!

Yo boys and girls, Last night we had 11 hardy souls show up and ride Green Mt.All but one made it to the top.Afterwards we went to Scotty Dawgs for B and G.Incidently, one friend of a member showed up without a helmet. From this time on riders will be turned away if they do not have a helmet.Word to the wise. By the way all the hardy souls riding were all MEN.Where were all the members of the fairer sex?
Next Ride--Lair of the Bear As usual we will meet at the trail head at 5:45.Ride at 6:00PM.Lair of the Bear can best be accessed by exiting C470 at Morrison Rd and going West thru Morrison.Up the canyon just past the town of Idledale(about a mile) and turning left into the well marked parking lot. This ride I rate as more difficult cardiovascularly, and intermediate in
technique. We start in the parking lot ride about a mile along Bear Creek before we start ascending all the way to Parmalee Rd and Pense Park.We then reverse field and retrace our path back to the beginning. It's an out and back;therefore,we can pick up any stragglers. As usual, please RSVP in the positive only on the day of the ride.Booze and Grub afterwards. Keep that rubberside down!!!! Barry

It will be much cooler today - in the 70's rather than 90's and no wind. Sounds like a perfect day for a skate. Meet at 11:00 at SE parking lot at soccer fields across from lake. See map of a wonderful loop around the lake:

Hi everyone,
Count me in for the barbeque on Wednesday. I have not heard a specific time but assume it will be 6:30, the same as the normal skate. This will be my first time to join the group, as I just don't make the drive from Boulder very often. I'll bring a fruit salad, Micah.
Also, I will be teaching a free beginner lesson that day at 6:00 for one hour, also in the park. If you know someone who is a beginner and needs to learn to stop, please send them to www.FreeSkateLesson.com to sign up.
Count me in for the BBQ! I skated with a small group in the fall
once. I will bring veggie burgers and chocolate chip bars. What
side of the park are we meeting?

Also, I will be teaching a free beginner lesson that day at 6:00 for one hour, also in the park. If you know someone who is a beginner and needs to learn to stop, please send them to www.FreeSkateLesson.com to sign up.

It will be much cooler today - in the 70's rather than 90's and no wind. Sounds like a perfect day for a skate. Meet at 11:00 at SE parking lot at soccer fields across from lake. See map of a wonderful loop around the lake:
I'm not sure this reminder of Mon.nite's ride will get out in time due to the holiday. If it does, please RSVP in the positive only.

This ride I rate as more difficult cardiovascularly, and intermediate in technique. Barry
