Hi Cheri. This will
be my 3rd year skating Disney, and I skate the full marathon. I’m not sure what to tell you regarding what
to expect, though I’d be happy to answer any specific questions you have. On the negative side, the course has a lot
of turns and a few narrow spots, so it’s not particularly fast. On the positive side, its fun and seems to
be easier to do well in one’s age category than more established races like
Northshore.Â
I will be
working at the Zephyr Adventures booth at the pre-race registration & expo,
so you’ll have to come by and introduce yourself!
Are you in
Denver? Where have you been training?
Let me
know if you have specific questions about the race and I’ll be happy to answer
them.
Regards,
Deborah

Hi

Have
you skated at the Disney Marathon before? Are you going for the full
marathon or half marathon? I'm going for the first time and wonder what
to expect.

Copper has a
lot of events for April. Check out their site for details:
www.coppercolorado.com.
We've been getting great snow for the last week and we're supposed to
get more this week (it's snowing up there as I write this).
I generally check the snow reports first thing in the am. All the
various resorts have their pluses and minuses, so I weigh those with
whatever mother nature brings us and then make a decision on where to
go.
You're welcome to call me if you want more info, or if you want to ski
with some fellow skaters this weekend: 303-522-6194.
Good luck. I'm sure you'll win the bikini contest!!!

Most of the bikes at Cherry Cr. Reservoir stay on the road. I have
seen few pedestrians on the new path on west side, they tend to stay on
dirt paths near the lake. Cherry Cr. reservoir and Ralston Reservoir
bike paths are in my opinion the two best places to skate in Denver
area, day or night. Bear Cr. reservoir is pretty good, but you have to
time the descent going W on SW side to avoid bikes. All three
reservoirs have loops all the way around (some on streets, but the
asphalt is good) that can be done in under an hour.
That said, I am skiing the weekend. Anyone up for it?
Sorry you almost got hurt. That is a very tricky underpass. There is
a mirror set up to see if any one is coming the other way. Best to
take that hill slow.

Are you guys talking about Johnny Rockets? it is on the path just near
the ramp that goes down to the creek or you can split off and go the
high road towards the underpass to university?

My legs turn into jello (only 12 points and probably not in the dictionary) at 1, so no worries from me on your game start! See you three (or more!) roundabouts that restaurant at 11:30. Yippee!

Sounds good! Mall @ 11:30 gets my (one) vote. SW side is an outdoor restaurant (sorry, I don't recall the name, which is why I don't win at scrabble - no spell check and invented words like qwizix - 34 pts - don't count) with the bike path directly across the street. We can park in the garage and meet around there. I'll have me cell - 303-423-2574. But my skates turn into pumpkins at 2:30 (3:30 hockey game).
Since Jenny Lynn's message beat Kon by a minute and Bayou and Steele is a
confirmed
intersection on Yahoo Maps, her vote wins. I will bring my hockey elbow pads for
biker
protection.

I usually park on the Steel St. side, at Bayaud, I think it is--next to the big ramp from the parking garage to Steele St. (Does this make sense?) I am a sucker for not only democracy but consensus, so Kon, chime in and let's see what works for you, too.

Maybe. I have to check on Turner's hockey game schedule, but if we went around 11, I could probably swing it regardless.
I have been skating around Cherry Cr. Reservoir lately in the evenings. The west side has new bike path, but the bikes all stay on the road. A pretty good circuit is from parking lot at park just off the SW dam road around the reservoir. Cherry Cr. bike path from Hampden Heights to Confluence Park has had alot more bikers lately as spring approaches. Some apparently object to skaters.
But I am up for anywhere.
