I've been to the Great EsSkate every year since they started in 2001. Unfortunately, I won't be going this year in favor of a couple of ski trips. I posted to the board about Miami for the last 2 years, but no one ever seemed interested in these out-of-state events, so I stopped posting.

We did have this listed on our web site under Calendar/Events. The site has not been updated for 2005 yet. There are plenty of links in the Resources section - check out the links to clubs in other cities and they always have events listed there.

There are a lot of annual skate events in and near the US... Feb skate in Miami, May event in DC, June/July Freedom skate in Philly, as well as a great number of marathon and 10K race-event weekends, from Long Beach, CA to NY, NY to Montreal, Canada, to Fiji/Tahiti. Most of them are marathon-type events, but they usually incorporate a social skate and parties. I have either been to, or know someone who has been to all of these events.

Colorado has no such events, aside from some indoor racing, to my knowledge. I believe this is why no one in Denver seems to know much about the rest of the US skating community and how street skates are done. I would love for this to change, but do not presently have the money or the time to invest in event creation and promotion.

If anyone else does, feel free to step up to the plate! I do know a lot of folks heavily involved in skating events around the country, and many of them are happy to offer advice and guidance.
