Friends, Mark the date(s), and abuse that "forward" button! The Department of Redundancy Department's first major production, "Ten Buddhist Tales", opens Friday the 13th
at the Bug Theatre, for a four-week run. It's a crazy, wacky play,
unlike anything you've seen or are likely to see again, so it should be
worth your while. The best way to get a small glimpse at what's in
store for you is to check out some of the videos under "shown shows" at
http://reredundancy .com
Plot
summary: A thrill-seeking Guru enlists the help of the Bearded Lady and
her deranged theatre troupe to expand Buddhism for a western audience.
As the Guru wallows deliciously deeper into their psychoses, the freaks
themselves attain their own epiphanies, and find their ducks. Among
other antics, the play features tango-dancing serial killers,
Matrix-style "bullet-time" kung-fu fighting, a deranged Pope trio,
extensive projections, a feature soundtrack, and a comic-book program.
Ten
Buddhist Tales is avant-garde, ecstatic, freakish, wild, raunchy,
bloody, and above all wild, raunchy, and bloody. It is not recommended
for children.
The show dates and times are: 03/13 to 04/05 Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. Sundays at 2 p.m. on April 29 and May 5 Tickets are $10 for the general public, $20 for charitable Catholics.
Please go to http://www.bugtheat re.org
or call the BugLine at (303) 477-9984 for details, reservations and a
calendar of performances. The Bug is located at 3654 Navajo Street,
Denver, CO 80211.
The cast consists of Mariah Aguirre, Marion H.
(a.k.a. Ashley B.), Rick Bivens, Jessamyn Geesaman, Dan Hiester, Amy
Lee, William Lejeune, Josiah Lovato, Kenn Penn, Joni Pierce and Mike
Thornwall. The crew is (so far) Laura Antencio, Verl Hite and Alex Weimer. And the director is Antoine Valot.
The show is dedicated in loving memory to Don Becker and Jeanine Hiester.
See you next week!
