DEMOLITION DERBY
SATURDAY, JULY 25TH, 2009
$8,500 PAYOUT
RACE BEGINS @ 1:00 p.m. GATES OPEN @ 10:00 am.
IN CASE OF RAIN OUT, THE DERBY WILL BE HELD SATURDAY, AUGUST 1ST.
Entry fee is $150.00 PRE-ENTRY - Must be paid by June 1st.
After June 1st - $200.00.
If there are not 35 pre-entries by June 1st - Derby will be
cancelled!!
Entry fees will be refunded.
Entry fee gets driver and 1 pit crew member into the pits.
Pit passes will be $15.00 per person. No one under 16 allowed in the
pits.
PAY OUT AS FOLLOWS: (Based on 50 Entries)
$5,000 = 1ST PLACE
$1,500 = 2ND PLACE
$ 500 = 3RD PLACE
$150.00 heat money for 1st & 2nd place cars in each heat excluding
the non-winners heats.
RACE DAY SCHEDULE
10:00 am - Gates Open
10am - 12:45pm - Inspections (last inspection @ 12:45)
12:45 pm - Driver's meeting
1:00 pm - Heat Races
5 heats - 10 cars per heat
**After heat races - cars return to pits for repairs. No derby cars
will be permitted to leave the pits. All repairs must be done on-
site. Violators will be disqualified. **
**Intermission - After the conclusion of heat races until 5:00 pm pit
passes are not required. After 5:00 pm No one allowed in pits
without armband.**
5 - 6:45 pm - Re-Inspections for Consolation &
Feature Race
6:45 pm - Driver's meeting
7:00 pm - Consolation Race
Max 4 heats - Top 2 Cars advance
**After consolation races there will be a 20 minute intermission
prior to Feature Race. **
CAR SPECIFICATIONS:
Cars must be 1978 and newer GM and 1980 and newer Ford or Chrysler,
no front wheel drives, taxi-cabs, hearse, ambulances, four-wheel
drives or AWD. Passenger cars ONLY!
All glass, chrome and plastic must be removed from the car. If your
car isn't 100% stripped and clean you WILL NOT run.
Stock gas tanks must be removed.
Batteries and gas tank must be inside the car and securely fastened "
NO MOVEMENT". Electric fuel pumps are allowed. They must have an
on/off switch near the steering wheel and clearly marked in large
letters - ON/OFF.
The driver's door may be reinforced on four door cars from a point
six (6) inches in front of the front door to a point six (6) inches
behind the driver's door. On two door cars, the reinforcement may be
from six (6) inches in front of the door to a point fifteen (15)
inches behind the door. The driver's door may be welded.
Bumpers may be welded only to keep from removing them. No metal may
be added to the bumpers. Any automotive bumper is allowed. You can
hard nose bumper to the frame.
The doors must be chained or welded OUTSIDE SEAMS ONLY (2" x ¼" strap
max) OR unlimited chains "NOT BOTH".
If trunk lid is welded a 12" x 12" hole must be cut in deck lid for
inspection.
Fender wells may be cut and you can have up to (6) 3/8" bolts per
fender.
10" x 10" hole must be cut in hood. If header holes are large enough
to accommodate this requirement no extra holes will be needed. You
can have (6) 3/8" bolts per cut out in hood - NO WELD - Maximum (3)
cut outs.
Cars may run with headers.
Transmission cooler allowed.
Body bushings may be removed. All thread in body bushing holes
only. Washers must fit against inside top of frame.
Washers will be no more than 6" x 6".
4 – ¾ inch rods on hood. Only the 2 front all thread may extend
through the bottom of frame w/ washers. All other washers must fit
inside top of frame. (4) ¾" inch rods on rear deck lid.
No rods or chains in front of the car radiator.
A bar will be permitted behind front seat and a cowl bar will be
permitted but cannot be attached to the frame. The passenger door
may be reinforced to the Driver's Door specifications to form a 4-
point cage.
Any power train combination may be used in any car. Only motor
mounts may be welded. All transmission cross members must bolt in.
Only 5-lug ½ Ton or car type rear ends. Hybrids are allowed. You
may reinforce upper or lower control arms. Telescopic or Slip drive
shafts are OK.
Coil spring cars may not be converted to leaf spring or vice versa.
Coil springs may be chained or bolted to keep them from falling out.
No spray foam.
Roll Over bar will be permitted.
All cars must exhibit the ability to stop. No brakes means "NO RUN".
Any car frame that has been painted, has had tar added, has been
spray undercoated or had mud packed or smeared on the car Will NOT be
inspected and WILL stay on the trailer.
Steering column may be modified.
Valve stem protectors allowed, wheel weights must be removed.
You may weld your motor mounts to the engine cradle.
Distributor protectors allowed, must be attached to engine or
transmission only, backside must be no wider than 12 inches, must not
contact cage before, during or after the event. If you run a DP do
not mount you dash bar closer than 5 inches from middle of dash. It
may not be welded, bolted or connected to body, hood or frame.
Forward supports must be inside normally positioned headers and not
extend past the water pump. CALL AHEAD!
FRAME: You are allowed to weld and ONLY weld the first 18" of the
front frame seams. Top seam ONLY - ½" wide max. Do not cut off the
end of frame to make the 18" extend back farther. It will be measured
from the end of the frame back. Welding wire only on the frame, no
added metal. Do not weld body to frame, do not weld anything to
frame. If you weld 19" - bring your torches. I suggest you weld 17
¾". Do not touch frame with welder in any other area. Any suspected
area will be drilled and bore scoped. Do Not reinforce the frame.
RACE RULES:
NO hitting in the driver's door. Violation of this rule will result
in immediate disqualification if the official deems it to be careless
or intentional. If you use your driver's door as a shield, we will
not enforce this rule! If you use your driver's door as a shield
repeatedly - you will be disqualified!
Drivers must wear seatbelt, helmet and eye protection when operating
vehicle.
Drivers must remain in car until heat is over or directed to leave by
officials.
All drivers and crewmembers must attend the driver's meeting.
NO SANDBAGGING!! You must make an aggressive hit every 90 seconds.
Any car pinned in, stalled or stuck will have 2 minutes to get back
in the race or be disqualified. Hard-hitters get more time than
sandbaggers.
Any car that catches fire 2 times in a heat will be disqualified.
No Hot-Rodding in the pits. Keep it at an idle.
The judge's decision is FINAL and any hostile acts will be grounds
for immediate disqualification and removal from the premises.
No alcoholic beverages allowed in pit area.
All cars will be inspected. Any questions, CALL FIRST. Don't assume
anything.
Do not come to the inspection line if you are not done preparing your
car.
Cars must have hoods open for inspection.
Any car found to be illegal will be allowed to correct the problem if
time allows before the derby. If corrections cannot be made in time,
the car will be disqualified and NO REFUND will be given.
DO NOT test the inspectors…..YOU WILL GET CAUGHT!
If you are not sure, call before the derby to get clarification.
All protests must happen no later than 5 minutes after race is
over. There will be a $100 protest fee in cash and must state the
specific area. (3) areas means $300 cash!
Protestor must be specific about the protest…. Front frame horns or
rear arches etc., etc. If area protested is found to be legal -
driver gets the protest fee. If car is found to be illegal - the car
is disqualified & loses entry fee and protester gets protest fee back.
THERE WILL BE POST-RACE INSPECTIONS! AS ALWAYS….. JUDGES DECISION IS
FINAL!!
