Piggott Derby Rules
CLAY COUNTY FAIR DEMALATION DERBY
AUGUST 26, 2006
7:00 PM
RULES:
1. ABSOLUTELY NO WELDING!! any car with any welding at registration
will be turned away. If you are found illegal you will lose your
entry fee!!! Entry fee paid before inspection. Drivers door may be
welded 1/8"thick x 2" wide strap largest that may be used on driver
doors outside seems only! ! ! !
2. Cars must be 1978 and newer GM AND 1980 AND NEWER FORD OR
CHRYSLER no front wheel drive, taxi-cabs, hearse, ambulance, four
wheel drive, or awd. Must be a American made passenger car.
3. Any engine and trans accepted, rear end may be welded and
gears may be changed. No 3/4 ton rear ends. Housings may be changed
for example: gm 7.5 to a 8.5 or ford 8.8 to a 9 inch.
4. Suspension may not be altered, no stiffening of any kind.
{no blocks, airshocks, AFTERMARKET SHOCKS, clamps, spacers of any
kind} NO reinforcing of any kind for example: upper trailing arms
may not be boxed in or extended. No
changing of springs, stock springs for that car.
5. Conventional trans coolers only. No ice type coolers or
containers.
6. Gas tank and battery must be relocated inside of the car. No gas
tank large than 6 gals. Must be a boat tank or plastic tank securely
mounted inside the car
7. ½" chain is the largest allowed. 1 wrap per post, must be at a
post. No holes may be cut in doors. Hood and trunk have 2 chains per
panel. Hood chains may not be in front of radiator. 1 wrap per
chain. Chain may wrap around bumper. Chain may have one single bolt
threw a link and threw the bumper. A hole may be drilled in the
bumper for this bolt. This will keep the bumper from falling off DO
NOT COLLAPSE BUMPER SHOCKS. A 10 inch hole in the center of the
hood, and exhaust may exit threw the hood. One chain per side on
engine must have motor mount bolts removed. NO CHAINING OF
TRANSMISSION!!!!
8. CARS CAN NOT BE PAINTED. Factory paint must not be covered.
Name and # only paint allowed on car. Paid sponsors name allowed one
place on car.
9. Fuel tanks must be removed. RADIATOR may have two straps
which may be ratchet straps, # 9 wire, or seat belts. NO foaming of
radiator or combining of supports. May not be wire and strapped for
example. NO ELECTRIC FANS UNLESS FACTORY OPTION ON THE CAR!!!!
10. No tires larger than 7.00 x 15 or 235/75/15. No tires may
be reinforced or liquid filled.
11. TO MAKE THIS DERBY SIMPLE: KNOCK THE WINDOWS OUT MOVE THE
BATTERY AND GAS TANK PUT YOUR CHAINS ON AND SHOW YOUR SKILLS.
12. Registration at the gate will be $40.00 ( car and driver ). Pit
pass is $10.00.
13. Winning cars will be inspected. THERE MUST NOT BE ANY MODS OR
WELDS AFTER INSPECTION.
14. All chains must be bolted after inspection.
15. This derby is to keep a level playing field, low budget, and
give spectators what they come for everybody's cars destroyed.
16. There is to be no cutting of quarters, fenders, or any
other part of the car. No pre-bending or cutting on frame or body.
You may cut on car after your heat but no welding! ! !
17. You have two minutes to make a hit if car stalls, an
aggressive hit must be made every minute if someone is laying back
the race may be stopped and the car marked, to let other drivers
know there are drivers laying back.
18. No hitting in the drivers door, this rule will be strictly
enforced. Accidents do happen but there must be evidence of trying
to avoid the collision. The drivers door can not be used as a shield.
19. Winning cars will be inspected by the track officials. If you
don't like people looking at your car this is not the derby for
you! ! ! !
20. NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED!!!!
21. THERE IS NO GRAY AREA TO THE RULES!!!! The rules are not to be
tested, just your driving skills.
22. Drivers meeting is at 6:30 p.m.
23. REMOVE ALL TRIM, LAMPS AND ORANAMENTS ETC.
