In case you are new to the area, Dirty People is a Mixed (which is a fancy word for co-ed) Team, so we are looking for women as well as men.  Mixed tournaments are typically played with a gender ratio of 4:3 (men:women) or 3:4, offense decides.  If anyone has any questions about the team, visit the website or email us!

Andrew,

I am interested in playing, however this year I am doing the wedding thing and things so I do not want to over commit and under deliver. How many tournaments and what kind of attendance a md time requirement are you looking for in players. Again, I want to play but am realistic that I am very busy this year.

Thanks for the email,

Adam

To ultimate players interested in DErty:

What can you expect if you make the team?

1)      Weekly practices. There has been some discussion of multiple practices per week. Practicing together allows us to achieve our goals: win and have fun.

a.      Practices designed to develop individual skills (throwing, running, catching, defending in organized physical chaos) and team quality (cohesion, focus, plays, playing with and against zones, clams, and one on one defenses, and much more).

b.      Balancing Drills & Play at practices based upon what the team wants.

2)      Monthly Tournaments, listed below. Ultimate tournaments are weekend festivals of competition.

3)      You condition on your own. We expect DErty players to be highly motivated and desirous.

4)      Hard work and a ton of fun. This is, after all, the Ultimate sport with the coolest people in the world.

5)      Good spirit. Please bring it.

Sven

DErty tentative schedule to shoot for:

Feb – begin/continue/increase conditioning program and play Ultimate when we can

March: tryouts (March 6,13,19,26)

April: Henlopen (April 16,17)

May: Bell Crack

June: Driftwood

July: Ow My Knee

August: Summer Daze and scrimmages weekends before sectionals

September: Sectionals

October: Regionals

November: PADA Mosh

Delaware Ultimate!

Not sure if anybody would have interest in taking on this project.  This is a great opportunity to develop ultimate at a younger level, as well as developing some teaching skills and have a chance to throw the disc around in a gym!  I believe there might be some resources available at USA Ultimate to help put this together (See the links at http://www.usaultimate.org/resources/development/youth/pe_outreach.aspx ), and we could contribute some discs for the event.  Contact Lydia directly, and keep me in the loop!

Hello Nicole and Josh,

I am contacting you because I was wondering if you did any sort of clinics or anything like that.  I work at the Clarence Fraim Boys and Girls Club in Wilmington and am constantly seeking to bring in outside opportunities and experiences for the youth that we serve.  Given that we are a non-profit in a struggling economy, we are looking for volunteer engagements.   I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to get the college teams to come in and do something; then I discovered that there is now a Delaware community.  I think Ultimate, specifically, would be a great sport to introduce them to given its nature.  Is this something that you’ve done before?  Or if not, would you possibly be interested?  We have a gym as well as quite a bit of outdoor space we use when it is warmer. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you,

Lydia Carle

I'd be up for helping to organize this if I knew enough people would come out and do it.  The kids had a lot of fun playing ultimate at my elementary school during the Open Gym Night where a few Delaware Ultimate people came out to.  I even had a kid come up to me on Thursday this week and ask, "Are we playing that Ultimate thing again!?"  He then found a bunch of friends and we set up a side game of ultimate for them.  It's a lot of fun to watch and help the kids play :)  So if you'd come to help out, let me know

This is a great opportunity!  PADA has a program called PADA YO, which teaches young kids in the Philadelphia area ultimate during the summer.  I am sure there are already tons of resources you could use for the kids at the boys and girls clubs.  If you are interested in tapping into them, Marjorie would be the one to contact (PADA's ED).  I have copied her on this email.

More information on PADA YO can be found on the PADA website:  http://pada.org/youth/pada-yo

A quick change to the schedule for March. Tryouts are being moved to 1PM - 3PM.
Bring a white and a dark. Don't  bring grey, powder blue, or some other light color that could be mistaken for light or dark (this is an Ultimate golden rule).
Practice will start on time. This means you should be at the field with cleats on and ready to run drills at 1.
You can find our schedule on our website in the calendar.
See you there.

This will be a run the same way that we run our practices and not a pickup game. Only people serious about joining the team should come out.

Tryouts will be held...
Sunday March 6th 11AM - 1PM
Sunday March 13th 11AM - 1PM
Saturday March 19th 11AM - 1PM
Saturday March 26th 11AM - 1PM

After March practices will be closed to the public so now is the time to come out and tryout.

Hey guys,

So I have set up a date for Feb. 22nd to go to the Boys and Girls Club from 5-6pm.  I know this isn't the most convenient time, but the kids start going home after that.  Please let me know if you can come and help. We'll be hosting 2 and 3rd grade kids.    I could use a few extra hands.  Thanks!  Elise

Thanks!  Elise

Spring League Now Open!  Come check out the action, excitement, a pace of co-ed adult league ultimate!!!

Register NOW!  Check out the new registration system.  Go to http://pada.org/leagues/2011+delaware+spring+league to register!  You may need to create a new PADA ID.

What are you registering for?

*  10 fun games and a final tournament.  All games will be played at Alapocas Run State Park, in Wilmington.

*  Games are on Sundays, from 1 to 3 (or 1 to 5 on weeks with double headers).  Games start April 3rd, and run through May 15th.  Final tournament Sunday May 22nd!

*  Receive the brand new 2011 Delaware Ultimate disc, designed by our very own Kev Dubrow, man of mystery.

*  All this and tons of FUN for just $21!  PADA membership required for insurance ($10).  Register by March 21st!  (It will come sooner than you think.  REGISTER NOW!)

Other important details

*  7 v 7 ultimate.  This league is co-ed.  The ratio will be 5/2, or if captains agree before game, 4/3.

*  Sorry, this is an adult league.  You must be over 16 by 4/3/2011.

*  Registration closes on March 21st.  Men will be capped at 104 entries, so register quickly to ensure play.

*  We need CAPTAINS!  Please indicate in registration if you would like to captain.  Preference will be given to co-ed pairs, and experience.

*  We need WOMEN.  If you know an athletically inclined, or fun inclined, woman who is looking for a fun, physical activity that is sure to get the heart rate up, let them know about us!  See below promotions for encouragement -- free beginner's clinic to learn about the sport, free registration to try out a season.

*  Baggage!  We are relaxing baggage a bit for this season.  New-to-ultimate players are always allowed to baggage with experienced player, and couples may bag together.  All games are played at the same time, in the same place, so carpool baggage is not allowed.

*  FREE FOR NEW WOMEN!  $21 registration fee will be waived/refunded.  Use coupon code NEWDE at checkout.  This is for new women only.

*  BEGINNER'S CLINIC.  Free beginner's clinic on March 20th, 1PM, Alapocas Run State Park.  Paper registrations will be allowed during the clinic.

*  HAT TOURNAMENT!  Dust off the cobwebs.  Meet new players!  Come to the Second Annual (weather permitting) Delaware Hat Tournment, March 27th.  More details to come.  We will allow paper registration at the hat tournament, but fee will rise $5, until we have reached our maximum registration.  Just register now!

*  Help us!  We have some great postcards to shower over the region.  If you could leave postcards at your workplace, your gym, your yoga class, where ever co-ed type people hang out, please get some postcards!  I will have many, and I'll be giving the to lots of other folks to distribute -- Andrew, Pat, others.  Email me joshua at DelawareUltimate dot com if you'd like some.  Forward this email on to those friends as well!

*  Questions?  Contact me.

Hello,

I am the coach of the Ultimate team at Queen Anne's County High School in Centreville, MD (over on the eastern shore, about 20 minutes across the bay bridge). We are going to be hosting a one day tournament, the 3rd Annual Shore Tour on Saturday, April 16th here in Centreville. We are hoping to get 8 Open High School teams to attend, and hopefully your team will be one of them. The cost will be $150, and we will provide food and water for each team participating. It will be a great time, and a great chance to warm up a few weeks before the state championship.

Feel free to spread the word to any other teams you know of who may be interested. If you have any questions, or would like to attend, please contact me at kevinnkerr@...

Thanks,
Kevin Kerr

Hey Everyone,

I know it is late notice but I thought I would forward this on in case anybody needs something to do on Friday night. Our soloist is amazing, he is a bass player with the Philadelphia orchestra. I will be playing in the second violin section and there will be snacks at intermission (I made homemade chocolate chip cookies).
