I received the following email today. I am sadden at the loss of a competitor and my friend.
It is my very sad duty to inform you that Amilcar Piacentini died Monday of a massive heart attack. I've included Sergio's message informing me of Amilcar's passing.

Some of you had the pleasure of playing in multiple tournaments with Amilcar. For me Huntsman was the only opportunity I had to get to know this fine individual. I'm very cognizant that, for what seem like small reasons today, I almost didn't get the opportunity of get to know Amilcar.
After the tournament, Sergio, Amilcar, Amilcar's father, and I went to a Mongolian restaurant for dinner. Amilcar had made friends with the owner and visited there whenever he played at Huntsman. It was quite something to see the owner greet Amilcar like a long lost friend, and provide our meals gratis. Apparently this wasn't an isolated incident, Amilcar had that effect upon people. I also had the opportunity to get to know his father, 89 yrs.,sharp as a tack, and a wonderfully pleasant man.
For those of us who continue to vigorously pursue sports and keep a youthful vision of ourselves, it comes as a special shock when a teammate passes away. I'm glad we played as well as we did at Huntsman and got Amilcar a gold medal in his last international tournament, and with his father there to see it.
Allan
P.S. I'm copying our new players and a few from the 2006 Nationals. We're all Boomers.
