The 2002 Application for EEVB's summer program will be in the mail this week. The mailed application will be the official place to look for tournament dates, prizes and special events. The info will also be placed on our web site.

4. Special Promotional days
a. Colored t-shirt Days: All players on the following Sundays will receive pigment dyed t-shirts instead of the normal white t-shirt: 6/15 Belmar, 7/14 Cedar Beach, 7/28 E Quogue, 8/4 Pt. Pleasant
b. $30 Sundays: All doubles entry fees on the following Sundays will be $30/team: 6/2 Long Beach, 8/18 Wildwood, 8/24 E Quogue, 9/22 Long Beach
c. Grab Bag 4s: $15/player (includes free t-shirt). Player names are pulled out of hat to form teams. Prizes for top 2 teams. After play party at most sites: 5/12 Long Beach, 5/26 Long Beach, 6/2 Long Beach
d. Hurricane Harbor June 22-23 & Aug. 24-25: 4s on Saturday ($65/team), 6s on Sunday ($95/team). Entry fee includes admission into park. Teams must pre-register with full roster so that you can get into the park early.
5. Play next to the Pros in Belmar: EEVB will again be holding the very popular amateur tournament in Belmar, NJ June 29-30 in conjunction with the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tournament. Normal divisions will be run on Sat & Sun. Teams should pre-reregister because nets space may be limited. All players will receive free admission to the AVP tournament and can come to the AVP Saturday evening party.
6. Southwest Airlines Flyaway Tournament
- Full trips to the 10/19-20 Gulfview Championships in Clearwater Beach, FL will be awarded to MAA, MA, WO, WAA winners Sunday, July 21 in Newport, RI
- To be eligible compete on July 21 for the trips teams must finish 1st or 2nd in the following events:EEVB Tournaments: June 22, Newport, RI, July 6, Long Beach, NY, July 20, Newport, RI
NVC Tournaments: June 16, Newport, RI, June 29, Newport, RI, July 13, Newport, RI - July 21 Tournament details:
a. Only 12 teams accepted into each division on 7/21, 3 pools of 4 with top 2 teams advancing to playoffs
b. Teams will be seeded based on their Grand Prix points as of 7/20
c. Teams must pre-register for 7/21 by Wed. midnight 7/17 to guarantee their berth
d. Berths not reserved by 7/17 will be given away based on 7/20 finishes
e. Teams that finish 1st in the above tournaments will receive free entry fee 7/21
f. Teams finishing 2nd must pay the normal entry fee for 7/21 - Trips will be awarded following the details above.
- WO, WAA, MAA, MA awarded 2 nights hotel for 7/20-21

7.Club Getaway EEVB Weekend 10/5-6: End the season with a fun-filled weekend including King of the Beach Tournament & Blind Draw 4s. Win the weekend free at the Club Getaway Volleyball Tournament June 13-14, Cedar Beach, Babylon, NY
8. New registration procedure: We are encouraging players to pre-register in order to speed up the registration process and get players on courts quicker. Paid pre-registered teams do not have to arrive on the beach until 9 am Sat. or 9:45 am Sun for court assignments. They will not have to wait in line or fill out a registration card, just go straight to t-shirt booth. We will already have registration card filled out for pre-registered teams and they will be assigned to pools. If you are pre-registered and get to the beach late due to traffic, car problems and so forth, you will already be in a poll and on the schedule.
We did this at the Florida tournaments and overall it worked out well. With more pre-registered teams already for pools and not having to still stand in line, the registration line moved along much quicker and by 9 am we were ready to start assigning courts.
On LI last year registration was taking longer than usual because players felt that they were sitting around too long after they registered and thus came to the beach alter which delayed registration even longer and became a cycle of continually later starts. This season we encourage everyone who wants to come late to pre-register. We will start assigning teams to courts at 9 am. Players that arrive late will only be accepted to fill out incomplete pools. We are asking for everyone to help with these new procedures to help move along registration.
9. Southwest Airlines discounts: Southwest Airlines is offering a 10% discount on most of its already low fares for air travel to and from the 7/20-21 Newport, 1-/12-13 Siesta Key & 10-19-20 Clearwater Beach. You or your travel agent may call Southwest Airlines group and Meetings Reservations at 1-800-433-5368 and reference the assigned I.D. codes below. Reservation Sales Agents are available 7:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday - Friday, or 8:30 am - 5:30 pm Saturday and Sunday Central Standard Time. You must make reservations five or more days prior to travel to take advantage of this offer. 10. New England Volleyball Series: EEVB has joined forces with the Newport Volleyball Club to offer a full series of tournaments in Newport, RI and New London, CT. All tournaments will allow players to earn EEVB grand prix points.
11. Pat Powers Clinic: will be held July 6-7 in Long Beach, NY. This 2 day clinic will teach you basic volleyball skills and expose you to higher level techniques from one of the top pro players and current coach of the USC men's team.
12. Leagues: New leagues have been added Tuesdays at Long Beach, NY, Wednesdays at New London, CT and Thursdays at Smith Pt in Shirley, NY
