Welcome race fans to the 7/17/04 Thunderbird Speedway Race Recaps.
Let's get started:


IMCA STOCK CARS
Your heat winners were Jason Gore #021 & Justin McGlocklin #15
Leading the field of 18 to the green was Michael Thomas in the Thomas
Racing, Gatlin Motors, Thomas Racing Chassis #571. Starting outside
front row was David White in the Triple D, Rusty Barn #31. As the
green flag dropped, Thomas jumped to the lead, but White would take
the lead going into turn 3. At lap 2, White leads Thomas and Justin
McGlocklin is in 3rd. The first yellow would fly on lap 3 as your
3rd place runner Justin McGlockin would spin in turn 1 &2 and stall.
Brandon Kirkland #42 would have to stop and go into the infield to
miss him. Both would restart on the tail. On the restart, White
jumps back out to the lead with Thomas in 2nd and Jason Gore in 3rd.
On lap 7, the final yellow flew as the #13 of Phillip Smith would
spin and stall. He would rejoin the field in last. On the restart,
White jumps to the lead with Gore in 2nd. Gore starts to look under
White going into 3, but White shuts the door. Gore looks low in
1&2. Again, White shuts the door, and one more time Gore looks low
in 3&4. He gets under White, but White runs Gore to the infield.
Gore makes the pass in turn 1 and sets sail for his 2nd win in a
row. Gore leads at halfway with White in 2nd and Terry Pritchett in
3rd. On lap 12, Pritchett starts to look under White and makes the
pass. At lap 15, Gore leads by a bunch with Pritchett in 2nd and
White in 3rd. With 2 to go, Gore still leads by a bunch with
Pritchett still in 2nd. The white flag is shown to Gore. Coming off
Turn 4 and taking his 2nd win in a row and 5th of the 2004 racing
season is Jason Gore in the Gore Racing Chassis #021. The rest of
your top 5 is 2nd Terry Pritchett #112, 3rd David White #31, 4th Tim
Hardman #2, and 5th Stan Kotwitz #97. Your Hard Charger is Stan
Kotwitz #97 who started 16th and finished 5th. Good job Stan. NO

IMCA MODIFIEDS
Your heat winners were Lee McCullough #3m, Chance Kimberling #34 and
Jason Troutman #44

Leading the field of 25 to the green was Lee McCullough in the Nextel
Communications, Denny's. McCullough Racing #3m. Starting outside
front row was last week's winner, Jason Troutman, in the Town East
Ford, Chase Me Racing Engines #44. As the green flag flew,
McCullough jumped to the lead, but Troutman would pass him in Turn 3
and take the lead. Troutman would set his sights on winning two in a
row. The yellow would fly for a crash in turn 3, when Brad Thomas
#51 would spin and collect the #720 of James Black, the #11 of Eddie
Scott, and the #8 of Danny Fields. All would rejoin the field,
except for Danny Fields, who hurt his left leg in the crash, and
would have to be taken to the hospital. We would have a complete
restart with the #51, #720, and the #11 going to the rear. On the
start, Troutman would get the jump on McCullough and take the lead.
McCullough is in 2nd and Tommy Davis Jr. #17 in 3rd. At lap 3, the
2nd yellow would fly as the #51 of Brad Thomas would spin in Turn 3.
His night would be done as he goes to the pits. On the restart,
Troutman would jump out to the lead again, with Davis in 2nd, and
Charlie Smith #516 in 3rd. On lap 5, the 3rd yellow would fly as the
#21x of Chaz Exum would spin in turn 2 and stall. On the restart,
Troutman would jump to the lead and continue to make his run for 2 in
a row, 2nd is Davis and 3rd is Smith. At Lap 8, Troutman leads by a
half a straightaway. Davis and Smith are battling side by side for
2nd, with Thomas Blackwell #015 in 4th. Troutman leads at halfway by
a straightaway with Davis and Smith still running side by side for
2nd. At Lap 15, Troutman is over a straightaway ahead, but is in
heavy lap traffic. Davis and Smith are still battling for 2nd, and
Blackwell and Kimberling are battling for 4th. Troutman leads with 2
to go. Davis is 2nd, Smith 3rd, and Blackwell 4th. The white flag
comes out, but we have trouble on the front straightaway. The #28 of
Darrell Turner would spin and stall, so we would have a green-white-
checker finish. Davis and Smith are happy to see it. They get a
chance to take the win. On the restart, Troutman gets a good start,
and he gets away by 2 car lengths. Davis and Smith once again start
there battle for 2nd. Troutman leads at the white flag. Davis and
Smith go into Turn 1 side by side, but Smith jumps the cushion in
Turn 1 and falls back to 7th. Coming out of Turn 4 and taking his
2nd win in a row is Jason Troutman in the Town East Ford, Chase Me
Racing #44. The rest of your top 5 is 2nd Tommy Davis Jr. #17, 3rd
Thomas Blackwell #015, 4th Terry Pritchett #20, and 5th Chance
Kimberling #34. As Troutman took the checkered, there was a crash in
Turn 4. Lee McCullough #3m and Chris Bell #37 would spin. NO
CLAIMS. Your Hard Charger was Terry Pritchett #20 9th to 4th. Good
job Terry.


SIMS MODIFIEDS
Your Heat winners were Dustin Sprouse #28 and Skip Luther #73

Leading the field of 18 to the green was Dustin Sprouse in the
Sprouse Racing #28. Starting outside front row was Steve Hardy in the
Davis Race Cars, Arrow Signs, Quailty Sand #15. As the green flag
flew, Sprouse would get the jump, but Hardy would pass him on the
back straightaway. Gary Blackwell #010 would pass Hardy coming out
of 4 and bring Sprouse with him. On Lap 2, the first yellow flew
when your 2nd place runner, Dustin Sprouse, would spin in Turn 3. On
the restart, Blackwell would jump to the lead with Hardy in 2nd and
Tommy Davis Sr. #17 3rd. On lap 5, Blackwell still leads, but is
pulling away. Hardy runs 2nd and Davis 3rd. Blackwell still leads
at halfway by over a straightaway with Davis in 2nd, and Max Eddie
Thomas #82 in 3rd. On lap 10, the final yellow would fly as Steve
Hardy, who was running 4th, would break in Turn 2 and stall. He would
have to be towed in. On the restart, Blackwell gets the jump, with
Davis and Thomas battling for 2nd. Thomas takes 2nd on lap 12 and
sets his eyes on Blackwell. On lap 12, Thomas looks high on
Blackwell, but cant make the pass. Thomas goes low in 3 & 4 and both
drivers run hard. With 2 to go, Blackwell and Thomas are still side
by side for the lead. The white flag flies, and they're still side
by side. Thomas edges ahead out of 2 and makes the pass in turn 3.
Coming out of turn 4 and taking his 9th win of the 2004 season is Max
Eddie Thomas #82, 2nd and a great run for Gary Blackwell #010, 3rd
Brian Stowers #182, 4th Tommy Davis Sr. #17, and 5th Stan Kotwitz
#97. Your Hard Chargers are Max Eddie Thomas #82 8th to 1st and Chris
Davis #171 15th to 7th. Good job guys.

STREET STOCKS
Your heat winners were Bobby Morphis #63, Cody Sample #20 and Calvin
Williams #337

Leading the field of 23 to the green was David Hollaway in the Gore's
Racing Chassis #52. Starting outside the front row was Justin Strain
#64. As the green fell, Hollaway would jump to the lead, but it
wouldn't last long as Phillip Smith #94 would take the lead on lap
2. Smith leads at lap 4 with Dave Emmons #23 in 2nd and Hollaway in
3rd. Smith still Leads on lap 6 with Emmons 2nd and the fast moving
Tommy Davis Jr. #17 in 3rd. On lap 7, the only yellow would fly for
the stalled car of Cody Sample. His night was over, as he is pushed
to the pits. On the restart, Smith gets the jump, but on lap 8,
Emmons passes Smith, whose left front wheel has locked up. Davis
takes 2nd, as Smith falls to 3rd. At lap 10, Emmons leads, but Davis
is all over his back bumper. Davis is looking low, but Emmons holds
the lead. At lap 12, Emmons still leads, but Davis is still right on
his bumper and is looking low, but can't get by Emmons. With 2 laps
to go, Emmons leads, but just barely, Davis looks low in 1 & 2 and
gets alongside Emmons. They drag race down the back straightaway.
They are side by side in 3&4, but Emmons gets ahead coming out of 4.
They take the white flag. Emmons leads, but Davis looks low in 1 but
cant make the pass. Davis looks low again in 3. He gets his nose
under Emmons, but coming off Turn 4, and taking his first win of the
2004 Season is Dave Emmons in the Emmons Racing #23. Finishing a
close 2nd for the 3rd week in a row is Tommy Davis Jr. in his Davis
Race Cars, Arrow Signs, Marshall's RV, Tommy's Towing, Canton Paint &
Body, RCP, Pro-Trak #17, 3rd goes to Clint Frideley #82, 4th ? ,
and 5th to Calvin Williams #337. Your Hard Charger was, until I see
the results for every car, Tommy Davis Jr. #17 11th to 2nd.

I hope you enjoyed. We will do it again this Saturday night. Gates
open at 5, races start at 7:30. Thunderbird Speedway will also be
having a Demo Derby $1,000 to win. Good luck to everyone.

mentioned, please PM me with them. I try to remember as many as I
can, but sometimes it is difficult.
