Ok fans, here is the recap for last weekend's races at Thunderbird
Speedway. Lets get started.
In IMCA Stock Cars, your heat winners were: In heat 1, Stan Kotwitz
#97, Heat 2 Jason Gore #021, and Heat 3 Jeff Turner #044. Now, to
the Feature. Starting on the Pole, driving the #98 Davis Race Cars,
RCP, Marshall's RV, Arrow Signs, Tommy's Towing Monte Carlo was Chris
Davis. Starting outside row #1, driving the #112 Roy Racing, FAST
GRAPHICS Signs & More, Roy Pierson A/C & Heating, Pearson Plumbing,
Arty & Sons Paint and Body, Hobby Horse Embroidery Monte Carlo was
Terry Pritchett. When the Green dropped, Davis jumped into the lead,
followed by Pritchett. Moving up was Jason Gore #021 and Jeff Turner
#044, as they started their way to the front. Davis lead at the
halfway point, with Turner in second, Gore in third, and Pritchett in
fourth. When they got into lap traffic on Lap 11, Turner made his
move; coming out of 2 getting alongside Davis, but Davis held on to
the lead. That was until Lap 13, when again, lap traffic played a
factor. Turner got alongside Davis once again. Davis tried to hold
Turner off, but Turner made the pass a lap later. Gore made his move
passsing Davis for 2nd on Lap 15. The first and only yellow flag of
the race flew when the #12 of Eric Sanderson spun. When the Green
dropped again, Davis got the jump on Turner and Pritchett and fell
back into third. That's when the #97 of Stan Kotwitz made his move.
Restarting 8th, he moved to fourth. Coming out of 2, with 2 laps to
go, Turner lead. Going into 1, Jason Gore makes his move, hitting
Turner going into one and taking the lead. Gore lead at the White,
when Turner retaliated and hit Gore. They ran side by side out of 2
and down the back straightaway. They bumped and banged down the back
and into and out of 3 and 4. Coming out of 4, they make one last
drive to the line with Jason Gore, driving the #021 Gore Racing
Chassis, Ricky's Welding Monte Carlo taking the win by half a car
length. A close battle for 3rd to line is won by Kotwitz by one inch
over Davis. Some say Davis won the battle, others say Kotwitz.
Finishing behind Gore are: 2nd Place Jeff Turner #044 (who would get
a broke A frame and cut tire out of the race with Gore), 3rd Stan
Kotwitz #97, 4th Chris Davis #98, and 5th Terry Pritchett #112.
There were no motor claims, but after the race, in the infield, Jeff
Turner would let Jason Gore know that he wasn't happy. A very heated
discussion would ensue, with Turner leaving very unhappy and his car
on the wrecker.

Before moving on to the the Feature recap, I want to tell you about
Heat #1. This was a good race and very wild on the start. There was
a spin in turn one. Ronny Sigman had to stop to avoid the spun car,
and would fall to last. He moved into second within two laps, when
he hit the tire in Turn 2 while going for the lead. He would once
again come back from the last position and get 2nd to Scotty Brown.
Great driving by Sigman.
In the Feature, Cody Smith and Terry Pritchett would lead them to the
Start. On Lap 3, Ronny Sigman moved past Smith to take the lead, and
it was pretty much over after that. Sigman would check out, but the
race for second was good. Cody Smith and Scotty Brown would go head-
to-head the whole race, with 2003 Track Champion, Max Eddie Thomas,
running 4th and waiting for a chance to make his move. That chance
never did come for Thomas. At the halfway point, your leader was
Sigman, followed by Smith, Brown, and Thomas. The Hard Charger of
the race goes to Chance Kimberling #34. Finishing 2nd in B-2, put
Kimberling in the 16th starting position in the feature. He would be
on the move. At halfway, he was in the Top 10. With 2 laps to go,
Brown puts the heat on Smith, passing him with a little help of the
bumper. Smith didn't like it much. At the Checkered, your winner,
driving the #48 Z&Z Motorsports, City Motor Supply, Enduro Power
Coating,Town East Ford Modified would take his first feature win in
over a year. He was followed by Scotty Brown #144, Cody Smith #18,
Max Eddie Thomas #82, and Chance Kimberling #34. After the
checkered, Brown and Smith would have a different opinion on the race
with Brown spinning Smith out in Turn 4. Smith was very unhappy and
would let Brown know it in the infield. There were no claims.
MINI-STOCKS
Your Heat Winners were: Heat 1 Tommy McManus #74, Heat 2 Danny
Pattat #20. This Race was a runaway, with Danny Pattat domminating
it and taking the sweep. Pattat also won at GPS the previous night.
Pattat would take his #20 Ford Mustang to the Victory with a
comfortable lead, never getting any challenge for the first
position. Second went to Jimmy Gore #21 who was in a close battle
with the Third place car of Bobby Ortega #07. Rounding out your Top
4 were the fourth place finisher, Tommy McManus #747 and 5th Steve
Hinkle #27.
