Success is measured in so may ways. We (Editorial we) define success for Darren McCarty as the ability to land on his feet despite the upsets. The sense of need for prayer is acknowledged. I continueto pray for him daily, and several times a day. There is a candle burning for him as he finds his way. (And how is that towel folding working for you?) Malcolm Goodwell said that it takes ten thousand hours to master a thing. In ten thousand hours of towel folding, for example, a philosophy will no doubt emerge. I suggest a book that was written in the Middle Ages, by Brother Lawrence, called, "Practicing the Presence of God." It is a mercifully short book, but very pithy. Anyone who suffers dismay and setbacks could profit from the reading of this book. I am filled with joy when I
know Darren is on the ice, for kepping sharp is as necessary as brushing teeth. This life is like a new pair of skates, with the inevitable blisters. Learn from it. And know that Love is always there. Every thought becomes a prayer. When the skater is ready, the ice will appear. We Love our Darren McCarty, and know that all is well. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the Red Wings. Without their D-Mac, they have no guiding star. It will get better. I promise. Just keep a positive mind. And Love our Darren.
