We trust that our Darren McCarty is having fun, but there is a caution with that. Too much negatinity with ones companions pulls a spirit down. Even the smallest things can build up if repeated enough. Darren has inspired a few players to return to the ice, the latest of which, Theuron Fleury, is in his forties. We should each seek to step outside ourselves like that, but it does help to have a positive vision in sight. I just came to grips with a lack of energy, which means I will not run that marathon after all next month, but I will next year for sure. Darren McCarty is responsible for me being a viable, breathing human today, and I am not letting go of that again. I am skating better this year; more pads, more fierceness. Darren walks through my head every day, several times, and I
honour that. He keeps me positive, even when he is being a putz, as he was last night. In return, I am a light in the window for him, a base that he can use to light the way through anything out there. That is a function of Love. We can all learn to do it better. Hockey is a great focus for striving. Darren McCarty, take your own advice and step outside yourself. As the slogan says, "Just doit!"
