Nancy, you've said in so many beautiful words that every wings fan should be able to hear, that every player red wing or not would love for us all to be able to feel.I always seem to say the wrong thing in the wrong words.your passion for our team is what i felt go across my back and up my neck that night, i'm surrounded by leafs fans up here in ontario, the feeling was my own I just wish I could have been able to experience that surrealism with the true fans of detroit as you've just described. Maybe I'll make it to the Joe next year for my first time and be part of the energy that all of you create to carry our team through the games that are played. thanx for the vision ,JAY

God bless you! That's a great duty station north of Malibu! Been there, done that. I have never touched the Cup myself, but I can feel it. The night we won the Cup this year was like none other. The end of the game came, Ozzie stood up and raised his arms, and from the metro Detroit area south of me (I am north of Metro airport) came about a minute of deep silence. Then the air between me and the airport was filled with noise, while fireworks sprayed up into the night sky. It was beautiful! The feeling of joy was palpable, as the celebration went on all night, Car horns honked, and the firefighters sounded sirens. I can see when the planes take off and land, so I knew when Red Bird II came home, with the extra two planes for family and friends. It was amazing, and surreal. I could feel the Stanley from the moment it arrived. The Stanley Cup, you see, is physically just a chunk of metal. The most valuable part of it is all the names it contains. The REAL Stanley Cup is the spirit it embodies, as it represents players, management, and also us fans. It is the only award of its kind, and is truly ours. You can sense it, wherever it is. Touching it physically is just a little ego boost. Reach for it with your mind, and you will feel it as strongly as the player who currently has it, or is letting his child take a dump in it, using it for an ashtray, or other obscene things that have been done with it. The Keepers of the Cup know, but do not talk. It's all good. The Cup is ours, and I am looking for another year of it in Hockeytown.
Nancy
