It took Darren McCarty all of 10 seconds to get acquainted with his new teammates.
As the Flint Generals were preparing to hit the ice for their pregame skate Monday morning, McCarty popped his head into the dressing room at Perani Arena, looked around and asked "9-1 boys?" in reference to Flint's lop-sided loss in Fort Wayne Saturday night.
The room exploded with laughter and the ice had been broken. McCarty quickly became just another player looking to fit in with his new teammates in an attempt to resume a career which saw him spend the last 13 seasons in the National Hockey League.
