Tucker's sentiments were shared by other local NHLers who suited up for the game, which raised $50,000 for a variety of local charitable and non-profit causes.
"This is fun, coming back here and getting another chance to play," said Leamington's Darren McCarty, a Detroit Red Wing at the time, who saluted the courage of the fans occupying the end seats in the rink in those days prior to protective netting. "The people who sit behind the nets at Windsor Arena are the gutsiest fans in hockey."
