The day's first group, which included colts such as Eric Nystrom and Brandon
Prust, zoomed through its own workout, then advanced to the off-ice segment of
the schedule.

The Flames' main herd arrived next. The big guys, pushed through a decidedly
un-campish pace, appeared to revel in the whip-crack.

"It was kickin', man, kickin'," said Darren McCarty. "The thing I really enjoyed
and really noticed was, even though there was a little rust, the intensity was
there. Guys had fun, working their asses off, but having a good time."
