• The Pistons' Ben Wallace was named the most valuable athlete in
Detroit during the second annual Detroit Sports Fans Choice Awards.
Other winners included Fernando Bryant (Lions), Darren McCarty (Red
Wings), Swin Cash and Barbara Farris (Shock), and Mike Maroth
(Tigers) in the humanitarian category. Roy Williams (Lions) and
Tayshaun Prince (Pistons) were honored as rising stars, and the
Pistons were honored for outstanding team achievement.
