Report: Red Wings offer Fedorov $40 million US
DETROIT (AP) -- The Detroit Red Wings have offered Sergei Fedorov a
four-year, $40-million US contract, an NHL source told the Detroit
Free Press.
General manager Ken Holland declined to comment, and agent Pat
Brisson would not comment on the numbers, the newspaper said.
Brisson did say he was optimistic a deal could be reached by July 1,
when Fedorov can become an unrestricted free agent.
Brisson said he spoke to Holland for about a half-hour Monday,
planned to speak to Fedorov on Tuesday and planned to speak to
Holland again Wednesday.
The 13-year veteran turned down a five-year, $50-million offer
during the season.
Messages were left for the Red Wings seeking comment.
