I bought one in the early 80's. Then a few years ago I bought the rest of the
barrels. So now I have the 2,4,6 and 8 inch barrels for it.
Never shoot it (time) but I got them.
I would like to buy another one in 44 (mine is in 357) I liked the alaskan
guide, I wouldnt mine getting one.

I have a 8" 357Mag that shoots left also. Checked the front sight and
it's offset to the left, groove machined wrong. Had a machinist
neighbor machine me an offset sight.
I own the same gun, I have the 2.5, 4, 6, and 8 inch barrels and they shoot
great. I have shot at close and far ranges and never had these problems

Additional information would help in diagnosing (guessing at) the
possibilities.
Just to check a few things...
How far off and at what range (10" at 25 yds? 4" at 50 yds?)
Is the point of impact off to the left with both barrels?
Do you shoot left handed or right handed (which trigger finger - left or
right)?
Cheers,
Randy

I have found Ebay to be a good supplier of DW parts. An 8" shroud just
sold there, I did bid onit, but felt the selling price of nearly $80 to
on the high side. Others are sure to pop up.

Greetings everyone,
I've been looking for this group for a long time. Glad to have found
you all. I'm a rabid DW wheel man and am looking for my first DW
1911.
A while ago I purchased a VL12 barrel for my DW 357 model 15. I had
hoped that it would make a great target barrel, but it doesn't shoot
DEWC w/ W231 worth a damn. I have been trying out 158 gr FP's with
H110 and it seems to like those better. With a twist rate of 1 /
18.75 I don't believe it likes slow but rather medium loads
traveling at a high velocity. My guess is that this barrel was
probably made for silhoutte shooting and not paper punching. Can
anyone give me any insight into this reloading project. I'd
appreciate it.
Glad to be here.

Frank,
Welcome aboard. I hope you enjoy the group. I know people who have never
heard of Dan Wesson and people who have several. I don't think I have ever
run up against someone who has only one. Must be something to this worth
pondering. Oh, well, again Welcome. DW has been trying to downsize and
concentrate on making only the firearms that are making them some money. Can
t blame them for that. It would be a shame if they stop making the small
frame though. I know that they have had reasonable success with their new
line of 1911s, because they are still hard to find. As for the Mitchell
Valkyr revolver, there is a company located in Southern California named
Mitchell's Mausers. This company started by importing a ton of Eastern
European rifles (M-48). This company has expanded their product line to
include remanufactured Lugers and P-38 in presentation grade. They also cut
a deal to have Dan Wesson private label revolvers for them. I assume the
quality is exactly the same as the DW product. I know here in the PRK, Dan
Wesson did not want to go through the hassle and cost to get their 1911
models "approved" by the state because they did not think the sales would
justify the expense. However, Mitchell did step up to the plate and the
Mitchell version of the Dan Wesson 1911 is now approved in Kalifornia. Three
cheers for Mitchell's. I am saving my pennies and will be buying a Mitchell
1911 next. If you can get a good deal on a Mitchell labeled Dan Wesson
pistol or revolver, grab it. It is hard to go wrong with a DW, no matter
what name is on it. Just my $0.02 worth.

Thanks for the info,
I have only loaded the 270 gr. at 1500fps. with a cronigraph and am having
good results and have not tride any smaller bullets.
If you happen to locate any of your previous load data for 240gr or larger
please email me and thanks again.

Please help us to improve Yahoo! Groups. Take the survey now!
I haven't been shooting my 445 just lately so I would have to go dig
for my 445 loads. But I would stay away from the 200 grain bullet
for anything but light loads for two reasons.
One, if you push it really fast it will shed velocity rapidly and at
any real distance the 240 grain might have more velocity.
Two, the SuperMags were originally conceived as a way to push heavy
bullets at the velocities of medium weight bullets in the standard
magnum cartridges. In other words, the 445 should push a 300 grain
bullet at around the velocity a 44 mag pushes a 240 grain bullet. I
don't use anything lighter than 240 grains in my 445.
The SuperMags do not do so well pushing light bullets at hyper
velocities. They will do it, but at the risk of erosion. The
powder used has a bearing on this, some being better than others as
far as erosion is concerned. It was the light bullet at hyper
velocity with the wrong powder in the factory load that got the 357
Maximum a bad reputation it didn't really deserve. The 357 SuperMag
shooters didn't have this problem as they were using heavier bullets
to do what was intended.
This problem does not apply in single shot pistols with no cylinder
gap.
The Dan Wesson 357 SuperMag is actually chambered for the 357
SuperMag cartrdige not withstanding it's being marked 357 Maximum.
The 357 SuperMag has a longer OAL than the Maximum which allows more
powder room with heavy bullets.

I won a .357 and have ordered the extra barrels. Never had a problem, they even
asked if I wanted my name on the side of them.
Sorry you had a bad time with them.

you, I suffered the same aggressive rudeness over the phone and

January 2003 I ordered a 10 inch barrel and shroud ($330). I was
told my barrel would be at my door in seven to ten business days.
Five weeks later--long enough for me to have forgotten I even ordered
anything--the barrel arrived unwrapped in an oversized cardboard
FedEx box severely scratched and dented. To add insult to injury,
the barrel was machined improperly and did not fit. It was then my
responsibility to pay for return shipping so they could

you are the least of their worries, and they have recieved their

machines to do the above and beond. But if you don't mind, I'm stuck
with a delima of my own. I can't find any good load data for my 445
super mag. because the load data I do have is in my Honady book and
frankley it sucks and lacks the willpower to sail my bullets.
Thanks Dan

Hy!
I am looking for some good load data for my Danwesson 445 super mag
for the 200 gr., 240 gr. and the 270 gr. gold dot. for hunting. The
load data I have is in my Hornady book but is not what I am looking
for because it has been proven to be slow velcity compared to the
capibility of the 445 super mag.
If some one could give some feed back on where I could obtain this
load data I would be greatfull.
Thanks Dan
Gentlemen,
Thanks for those of you that have returned to this forum. My long
deployment to Afganistan left a gap for the ugly spam that you
recieved to be unchecked. I hope that in the future you will be
able to use this forum again to share your love of Dan Wessons
products.
Is it as hard for others has it is here in be back water of NY to
get a Dan Wesson Revolver? I am about ready to become a dealer or
drive to the plant in pick one up from their new shop. I love their
1911's but it is harder to get the revolvers the company started
with then it is to get those 1911's.
Anyone interested in Military or police type equipment can check out
my new website, www.desertsystms.com. Hopefully you can find
something you would like. It should be live for purchases by the
15th of Oct, perhaps sooner.
I am also looking for some one to help as a moderator, since my
company is taking a lot of my time.
Thanks again for your time,
Robert Clements

Hi All,
How can I tell what model revolver I have? I bought
it many years
ago. It is blued, made in Monson, Mass and is in the

range but has no model number. I have had it since
about 1980 or 1981
if I remember right.
Thanks.

I have a 715H in .357/.38. It has become unreliable. Sometimes it
fires, sometimes it doesn't. The primer is struck off-center. I don't
remember if that was always the case. One person who looked at it
said that the crane was bent. I'm hoping I can get DW to service it.
If not does anyone know of a gunsmith who will?
