I recently got the "URGE" to buy a new toy, and thought a revolver
would be a nice addition to my (small) handgun collection. After
seeing the prices on current S&W's, (and refusing to settle for a
foriegn made gun **cough** "TUARUS"), I was browsing at a local gun
shop and drooling over some of the overpriced stuff, when my eye
caught glimps of a used DW 744 w/6" VH BBL in stainless. The price was
only $469.00, and the construction was peculiar, so I went home and
did my homework on the web. Seeing what a marvelous piece of
engineering that Dan Wesson revolvers are, I decided to buy the bloody
thing. It needed cleaning in the worst way, and the leading in the
barrel was really heavy, but she cleaned up nicely. WOW! This gun is
HUGE!!!! The condition is perfect, and it was made in Monson. It
didn't come with a barrel tool/feeler guage, so I got one on eBay for
$40 bucks delivered. Parts for the .44's seem to be getting hard to
find, and equally expensive. I'll take her shooting this weekend and
see just what she can do. I must say, I'm really in love with this
Wheel-Gun, and I hope CZ will bring back production of these wonderful
guns! Having found this forum (quite by accident) I just had to join.
