Frank,
Welcome aboard. I hope you enjoy the group. I know people who have never
heard of Dan Wesson and people who have several. I don't think I have ever
run up against someone who has only one. Must be something to this worth
pondering. Oh, well, again Welcome. DW has been trying to downsize and
concentrate on making only the firearms that are making them some money. Can
t blame them for that. It would be a shame if they stop making the small
frame though. I know that they have had reasonable success with their new
line of 1911s, because they are still hard to find. As for the Mitchell
Valkyr revolver, there is a company located in Southern California named
Mitchell's Mausers. This company started by importing a ton of Eastern
European rifles (M-48). This company has expanded their product line to
include remanufactured Lugers and P-38 in presentation grade. They also cut
a deal to have Dan Wesson private label revolvers for them. I assume the
quality is exactly the same as the DW product. I know here in the PRK, Dan
Wesson did not want to go through the hassle and cost to get their 1911
models "approved" by the state because they did not think the sales would
justify the expense. However, Mitchell did step up to the plate and the
Mitchell version of the Dan Wesson 1911 is now approved in Kalifornia. Three
cheers for Mitchell's. I am saving my pennies and will be buying a Mitchell
1911 next. If you can get a good deal on a Mitchell labeled Dan Wesson
pistol or revolver, grab it. It is hard to go wrong with a DW, no matter
what name is on it. Just my $0.02 worth.

Just joined the group.
I own a 1986 DW Pistol Pac V15 ( vent not heavy)
This is my 3rd DW.
From reading your list it seems that DW will discontinue the Small
frame line (which includes mine). Could I get a second on that? Also
I was looking a the january Shooting Times "gun guide" and they
showed a a Mitchel Valkyr that looks just like my DW, small frame.
Did DW sell it( the gun rights)? (page 72, 3rd gun down). No web
presence of the above mentioned gun maker. Also the DW site has a
DW/SW for sale 1 of 6, which has the rear ( thumb) release. Not sure
I would want it myself.
