Berezin makes impact with 1st-period

2001<br><br>It didn't take long for Sergei Berezin to make a
contribution in his long-awaited debut with the
Coyotes.<br><br><br>After missing all of the preseason and the first seven
regular-season games because of a knee injury, Berezin came up
with an assist on his second shift Saturday night
against the Vancouver Canucks.<br><br>Berezin got his
stick on a shot by Paul Mara, and center Daymond
Langkow stuffed the rebound past Canucks goalie Martin
Brochu at 5:13 of the first period.<br><br>Berezin,
skating on a line with Langkow and right wing Claude
Lemieux, wasn't sure what to expect in his first game in a
Phoenix uniform. The team has been on the road so much
this season that he said he has felt like an
outsider.<br><br>"And I haven't played on this ice since three years
ago," he said before the game. "It's pretty exciting,
but I'm a little bit nervous."
