2. First-round scoreboard-report: Hantuchová v Razzano
(Tuesday 26th May 2009)
------------------------------------------------------
- Daniela Hantuchová [EF] lt. Virginie Razzano, 3-6 3-6
The match was littered with breaks of serve: in fact 13 of the 18 games were
breaks! Daniela managed to drop serve from *1-0 (40/15), *2-1 (40/30) and *2-3
(40/30) in the first set; she also squandered three game-points in the first
game of the second set, and almost dropped serve from *1-1 (40/0)... all in all,
a terrible day at the office for Daniela's serve.
Daniela converted 5 of 11 break-points, but Razzano converted 8 of a whopping 21
break-points!
The other factor was that Daniela was far more erratic than her opponent, with a
W:UE ratio of 18:22 (not that bad in itself) to Razzano's 31:14 (very
impressive).
I thought Daniela had a chance to get back into the match after breaking back
for 3-6 *3-3, but instead, she just lost the last three games.
Daniela is playing 's-Hertogenbosch, so I look forward to an upswing in fortunes
on grass.

RAZZANO _@ @*@ @* 6
The match was second on Court 1, and started at 15:26 CEST.
Razzano serving 0-0: 15/0. 15/15. 30/15. 30/30. 40/30. Deuce.
Ad Daniela (BP). Broken.
Nice start!
Daniela's compatriot Magdaléna Rybáriková just beat Kristina Mladenovic 6-1 2-6
8-6, while Aleksandra Wozniak beat Monica Niculescu 4-6 6-4 6-3 on Court 17 a
few minutes ago - which means I will soon be following live scores for Vaidišová
v Ruano Pascual simultaneously!
Daniela serving 1-0: 15/0. 15/15. 40/15. Deuce #1.
Ad Razzano (BP #1). Deuce #2. Ad Razzano (BP #2). Broken.
Very disappointing after 40/15, and a psychological blow too. Yesterday, Anna
Chakvetadze managed to lose to Mariana Duque Marino after leading 6-3 2-0* - it
all turned nasty when she blew a 40/0 lead at *2-1.
Razzano serving 1-1: 0/30. 40/30. Deuce. Ad Daniela (BP). Broken.
An important break for Daniela. I didn't want her to be carrying the baggage of
not capitalising on 0/30 there - especially after the disappointment of losing
her own serve.
Daniela serving 2-1: 15/0. 15/30. 40/30. Deuce #1.
Ad Razzano (BP #1). Deuce #2. Ad Razzano (BP #2). Broken.
Another game-point goes begging, and no one's held serve yet.
Razzano serving 2-2: 15/0. 15/15. 15/30. 30/30. 40/30. Held.
Daniela serving 2-3: 0/30. 15/30. 30/30. 40/30. Deuce #1.
Ad Razzano (BP #1). Deuce #2. Ad Razzano (BP #2). Broken.
Razzano serving 4-2: Broken to love.
Great champions break back immediately! :)
Daniela serving 3-4: Broken to love.
Razzano serving 5-3: 0/15. 15/15. 30/15. 40/15 (SP #1). Razzano won the first
set 6-3 at 16:13 (47m).
Judging by the BBC's current coverage of Đokovic v Lapentti, it's cold and
windy: big clouds of red dust are blowing up around the court.

RAZZANO @__*@ @*@ 6
Daniela serving 0-0: 30/0. 30/15. 30/30. 40/30. Deuce #1. Ad Daniela. Deuce #2.
Ad Razzano (BP #1). Deuce #3. Ad Razzano (BP #2). Deuce #4. Ad Daniela. Deuce
#5. Ad Razzano (BP #3). Deuce #6.
Ad Razzano (BP #4). Broken.
Another nasty psychological blow for Daniela, who had three game-points there.
Razzano serving 1-0: 15/0. 15/40 (BPx2). Deuce #1.
Ad Daniela (BP #3). Deuce #2. Ad Daniela (BP #4). Broken.
A very important break after missing three break-points there - and of course,
to recover from a set and a break down.
Daniela serving 1-1: 40/0. Deuce #1. Ad Razzano (BP #1). Deuce #2.
Ad Razzano (BP #2). Deuce #3. Ad Razzano (BP #3). Deuce #4.
Ad Razzano (BP #4). Deuce #5. Ad Daniela. Held.
And an important hold after leading 40/0 and then having to save four
break-points!
Right now, both Daniela and Nicole Vaidišová are a set down and 2-1* up in the
second...
Razzano serving 1-2: 30/0. 30/15. 40/15. Held.
Daniela serving 2-2: 0/40 (BP #1). 15/40 (BP #2). Broken.
Now both Daniela and Nicole are a set and 2-3* down, but at least Daniela has
broken Razzano four times in this match - Nicole hasn't broken Virginia Ruano
Pascual even once today.
Razzano serving 3-2: 0/30. 15/30. 15/40 (BP #1). 30/40 (BP #2). Broken.
Daniela's now doing a lot better than Nicole, who's about to go 2-5* down...
Daniela serving 3-3: 0/40 (3 BPs). Broken.
Razzano serving 4-3: 0/30. 15/30. 30/30. 30/40 (BP #1). Deuce #1.
Ad Daniela (BP #2). Deuce #2. Ad Razzano. Held.
Two more break-points go begging, and Nicole just lost 6-3 6-4 - am I about to
lose two members of my Eternal Fanship within five minutes of each other?
Daniela serving 3-5: 15/0. 15/40 (MP #1). 30/40 (MP #2). Razzano won 6-3 6-3 at
17:11 (second set 58m, match 1h45m).
