Daniela has returned to Tokyo where she beat Molik and Sharapova, and
lost to Davenport in the 3rd round last year. It was one of the best
performances of Daniela in 2004.
This year, Daniela has had a very good start, beating Jidkova in the
1st round 6:1, 6:4. Her next opponent is another Russian, Kirilenko.
And possible 3rd opponent might be another Russian, Kuznetsova, if
she beats a qualificant, Mikaelian. The winner will play probably
Davenport, and even more probably there will be waiting in the finals
another Russian, Sharapova...As to the seeded players, there is no
surprise that No.2, 3, 4, and 6 are Russians. Davenport is No.1
seeded and Daniela No.8. Two other seeded, Sugiyama and Jankovic are
already out - they both lost their matches in the 1st round...So, it
looks like Davenport and Daniela against Russian Comando. Daniela,
c'mon !!! All you need is "just" to beat 3 Russians in a row - if
nobody, you can do it!
