In the third round of the women's doubles, Daniela and Martina
Navrátilová beat 14th seeds Shinobu Asagoe and Katarina Srebotnik
6-4 6-4. It must be nice for Daniela to be on the winning end of
Shinobu Asagoe after Wimbledon 2003 and Roland Garros 2004!
In the quarter-finals, Daniela and Martina were thrashed 6-3 6-0 by
Svetlana Kuznetsova and Alicia Molik in just 43 minutes. I had
really hoped that Kuznetsova's three-set battle in extreme heat
against Maria Sharapova just a few hours before would have softened
her up nicely for Daniela!
In mixed doubles, Daniela and Mark Knowles lost to Samantha Stosur
and Scott Draper 6-3 7-6 (7/2). Despite winning the mixed doubles
crowns at both Wimbledon 2001 and the Australian Open 2002, it looks
like Daniela has much to learn about picking the right man!
Here's an extract from an article I found on Yahoo! Sports:

At 48, Navrátilová is having fun out there
By PAUL ALEXANDER, Associated Press Writer

What sort of age difference is there in the Navrátilová-Hantuchová
pairing? Hantuchová was born in 1983 - when Navrátilová went 86-1
and won three majors.
But it's clearly a partnership. Hantuchová benefits from
Navrátilová's experience, as shown when she became upset with
herself after two consecutive errors Sunday during a victory over
Shinobu Asagoe and Katarina Srebotnik.
Navrátilová pulled her partner aside and whispered a few words of
encouragement. Hantuchová settled down and hit a forehand return for
a winner on the next point.
"It's a big honour for me," Hantuchová said. "There's so much I can
learn from her, not only doubles but singles."
Asked if Navrátilová might be getting a little, ahem, mature to
compete, Hantuchová said: "Not at all, especially the way she still
volleys."
"She's probably still the best volleyer out there," Hantuchová
added. "Maybe she's not as quick as the young girls, but she has the
experience."
<snip>
With Hantuchová, Navrátilová can converse with a doubles partner in
her native tongue for the first time in 30 years.
Navrátilová, who was born in Prague and later became a U.S. citizen,
speaks Czech, while Hantuchová speaks Slovak. The two languages are
close enough to communicate, which Hantuchová said allows them to
talk about strategy without fear that opponents will overhear.
