I think one thing I did take notice of this French Open is that I
think graudally shotmakers like Henin and Daniela will take over
from defensive players like Clijsters. Clijsters got to No.2 in the
world basically rely on her superb fitness and her well oiled
defenisve skills and against an aggressive shotmakers like Henin her
lack of shotmaking capability was clearly shown in the final.
Compare to the two French Open finalists, Daniela's game is full of
flair, she has a better all round game than Clijsters, her
shotmaking capability is almost on par or better than Henin, as an
incredibly talented player, her shot selection at key points
sometimes let her down. I think Daniela's game is not yet reach full
maturity, she definitely needs to cut down on those unnecessary
unforced errors and find the right mix of playing the right shot and
yet still going for winners when it counts. I don't agree with some
people who say that Daniela's game lacks power, I think Daniela's
game is more about her beautiful natural timing of the ball, she can
generate her power effortlessly from an easy swing and the placement
of her shots are extremely good. I hope Daniela find that winning
confidence at Wimbledon, she is definitely a better player than her
current ranking suggested.
