So, Daniela has her first 3 matches in 2002
behind herself. One victory, two defeats, maybe most of
us expected better results. But she did not lose
those matches against Henin easily - in singles it was
6:1, 0:6, 6:3 - the first two sets might be nullified
as both players dominated in each, respectively -
so, here we have the deciding final set 3:6 - I don't
know what was the course of this set, whether or not
Daniela had some breakpoints and she wasted all of them,
or it was just a very good performance of Justine
who did not allow Daniela to play her game. So, it's
difficult to make any comments. I don't think it was an
easy match for Henin (No.5) against Hantuchova
(No.38). It might also mean that the theory of Dana being
tired after playing too many qualifications was not
completely correct - she was pretty fresh...In any case, we
cannot expect that from now on Dana is going to win all
her matches, it might happen in the near future but
we still have to wait and be patient. On the other
hand, Henin might be on her way to become No.1 - who
knows? Who would guess that somebody so small as Hewitt
will become No.1?
In doubles, Dana lost 0:6, 7:5,
5:7 - besides the first set, it had to be very, very
close match...
Anyway, hopefully this experience
will help Dana in her tennis growth - her next
tournament should be in Sydney (if the fire around would
stop) and it looks for playing qualification again - if
she goes through to the main draw, she could play in
1st round players like Davenport, Capriati, Hingis,
Clijsters, S. Williams, Henin, Mauresmo, Testud, etc...in
case they don't get 1st round bye. Good luck, Daniela
!
