Daniela passed her first round with a much easier victory than I had
expected against Luxembourg's flag-bearer Claudine Schaul:
6-1 6-1! :-)

In the second round Daniela plays 10th seed Patty Schnyder, an
awkward left-hander who beat her 6-2 6-2 when they last met, on clay
in May. Schnyder leads their head-to-head 5-3, Daniela's last
victory coming in the fourth round of the Australian Open 2003.
Schnyder's recent form has been slightly worse than Daniela's in
terms of win/loss ratio and players lost to, so I give Daniela a 50%
chance of winning this one.
