This reminds me that I need to make a call for a volunteer at Timberlane. Jeff Dougherty has been the GHORBA trail steward to represent off-road cyclist issues with the new Timberlane Trail and to provide support to Bud and his team on construction and maintenance. Jeff has told me that he needs to hand this job over due to his work and personal time-constraints.
Timberlane is a great addition to our inventory of our trails and I'd like to think that GHORBA is able to provide continued support. The chief job of the trail steward is to help co-ordinate work parties and to liaise with the land managers. GHORBA will provide all the training and technical support needed - the main qualification is a willingness to help. Of course, living conveniently close to the trail is very useful too.
Please e-mail or call me if you are interested - don't be shy!
Thanks!

Group-
We had a mountain bike bridge wash out several weeks ago. I need 6 strong backs to help put it back into place. Maybe Friday around noon. If you can help it is close to Rambling Brook and Canyon Lake in Spring (Timber Lane). We can meet at my house 2434 Rambling Brook. Please let me know if you can help.
Thanks,

Funny you should ask that. Here's a report received yesterday from Talon Trails, who are building the trail:
QUOTE:
Hi Everyone,
We have good news. The trail should be about finished by this weekend. We installed 3 bridges today and lots of armoring for those low spots. We have some trail still left to blaze on the last loop. We were hoping to be done by tomorrow evening and leave you with some clean-up to do for the NTD event. You will need a few leaf bags to collect leaves and mask some of the disturbed earth (spoils) on loop 4. Also, there will be some big piles of dirt that need to be dispersed. Also, there is some trimming to be done, just as usual maintenance on all the loops. It¢s rained a bunch since we did the corridor. Looks like with a group of 20 you would have about 3 hours worth of work to get a complete, new trail.
Don't forget that Saturday is "National Trails Day". Gerry needs your help working at Cypresswood, but there's also a work party at Conroe, which it seems will now complete the Carl Barton Park trail in Conroe. There's over 500 people subscribed to this group, so I hope that those who are able will turn out to help. How about this: please go and work on the trail that's nearest to where you live? I'm going to visit Conroe on Saturday and help a little then come back to help at my home trail here at Cypresswood - so I'll be checking on all of you!! If you are a racer, don't forget your paydirt form (www.tmbra.org ) - its never too soon to start collecting Paydirt hours!

I'm probably gonna be in conroe tomorrow with some spare time. Anyone know what's up with the carl barton trail? The ghorba site has said "construction" it seems forever!
Here is the map for the Cypress Creek Hike and Bike Trails at Timber Lane (the trail closest to the creek is the mountain bike trail) . I will send the map for Sandpiper in a separate email as the total KB with both is too large for Yahoo. Be sure to check out the cypress swamp on the Timber Lane Mountain Bike Trail. At the present time we have one bridge out in the Timber Lane Section. If you have any problems with motorized vehicles report it to the Precinct 4 Constables as
we have it posted. If you have suggestions or want to do volunteer work on the trail contact me at 281-288-9725.
I finally
had the chance to ride Timberlane Trails last week with my brother in law who just bought a new bike. Pretty sweet trail overall and a nice addition to our local trails. Does anybody have a map of the trail to share?
