Greetings friends in cycling
Just a brief word to let you know that Conwy CBC Planning Committee yesterday approved the application for the Conwy Estuary 'slim line promenade' linking Llandudno West Shore to Conwy and Glan Conwy.
Still one or two issues to be resolved with the Countryside Council for Wales involving mitigating the loss of natural habitat, but these would not be expected to compromise what is now recognised as a truly magnificent project from which present and future generations will benefit.
Maurice Clarke and I, both CTC members, but Maurice representing the Deganwy Residents Ass'n, would like to thank everyone who has supported our newspaper campaign, whether by writing to the press themselves, or in turning out yesterday to make our existence known at the planning commitee. We should also not under estimate the importance this support has been for the local government officers and councillers concerned who themselves have come under enormous and most unfair pressure from certain very localised vested interests.
Thanks again, but there is still a great deal more to do to achieve justice for the increasing number of people of all ages simply wanting to ride a bike in comfort and safety. Any help you can give, no matter how small, will be much appreciated.
Up to date news on this and other local and national cycling issues may be found on our North Wales CTC Cymru website.
Note particularly details of the Welsh Festival of Cycling w/e 26th July at Rhayader as a download in the 'Cycle Life' Section. Just a possibility this may be brought to the Vale of Clwyd in future, but that's hush hush !
