Note that this is the same day as the family bike ride 'Pedalling Picnic' being organised by the Chester Cycling Campaign under the auspices of Sustrans and the National Bike Week organisation.
Here are the details so far:
Chester to Connah's Quay Pedalling Picnic
Date: Sunday, June 22nd 2003
Time: Meet 10:30 am
Distance: 16 miles - 8 miles each way
Route: NCN Route 5 - almost all off-road, apart from three miles
Suitability: Suitable for families with children - easy flat route, but short section on fairly busy road going through Connah's Quay
Meeting Point/Start: By entrance to Northgate Arena in Chester
Destination: Wepre Park, Flintshire, where we will have our picnic, returning by same route
Food arrangements: Bring your own packed lunch or buy something in Chester to bring with you, as there are no shops on the route
We had 40 people last year, and we are expecting more this year. The event is being advertised on the Bike Week website, and Sustrans are organising publicity on local radio. So plans are fairly well advanced.
We do not to be competing with Graham's Chester Road Club initiative, so perhaps we could join forces?
Graham, if you or another member of the Chester Road Club is reading this, perhaps you could email us and we can link up and discuss things further.
