Good morning Nic,
Not sure if your cycling group have these details, so thought I should pass them on.
Ralph and I were invited to view the sites where extension construction is taking place.
It is certainly progressing at a grand pace. Work on the bridge is impressive.
The deck be full width. Following Network Rail health and safety rules, high sides will not bring views!
The newly sited Mickle Trafford (Station Lane) access path is actually an improvement on the original 'right of way' (passing property of Lucy Meacock). It is fortunate that funds were found to purchase a section of farm land to accommodate this improvement.
The new layout will bring curves and slight hills to the pathway.
The planting up ideas are exciting. Old English fruit trees, oak, hawthorn etc., could replace previously felled trees.
It is stressed that we all be aware the Millennium Greenway is a shared pathway - consideration for other path users is a must. We have all worked so hard to obtain our pathways it follows that we all have a right to use them, but responsibly. There will be more horse riders using the pathways too.
The date for the for the Grand opening, at Fairfield Road bridge, is set at 25th Oct., giving a good time lapse, should there be any hiccups.
Audrey (Hodgkinson)
