WINNERS of
Yorkshire Post Environment Award
Dales Bike Centre has won the Yorkshire Post Environment
Award 2009 for projects under 1million pounds. We were presented with the
award from Energy and Climate change Secretary Ed Miliband and
television presenter Julia Bradbury.
We have taken environmental issues really seriously while
building the bike centre installing a ground source heat pump to power
our heating and hot water. We have also installed a water recycling
bike wash and other energy saving initiatives that have all cost extra,
but, we believe it's worth it to have a sustainable and green centre.

Up in the 2009 Yorkshire Rural Awards
At another awards ceremony last week we had been nominated
and then shortlisted for the Yorkshire Rural Awards - Entrepreneur of the
Year. We didn't win this one but were very honoured to be even
shortlisted and then made runners up.

Bank
Holiday Week 22nd - 31st May availability!
We've now had lots of you come and stop with us in our
accommodation and the feedback has been terrific. We still have a
couple of rooms available over the bank holiday weekend and half term
holiday week so if you're thinking of a riding trip away come and stay
with us. We have 14 beds in two and four bedded rooms, and
obviously we are set up for cyclists with secure bike store, bike wash,
drying room and laundry. All this in one of the best places in the
UK to ride!

Coast to Coast 'Hero' - Hero or mad? Sunday morning 4:20am we welcomed
Ritchie Rothwell to the centre to clean his bike and fill his water
bottles on his Coast-to-Coast NON-STOP attempt. Setting off from St
Bees at 12noon on Sat 16th he made it to Robin Hoods Bay in a mind
blowing 28hours 31minutes. Satellite tracking shows he rode Woodcock's
off-road route with no shortcuts. Unbelievable, take a look at his blog

Water Re-cycling Bike wash - Our bike wash is now up and running and it's only the
3rd one in the UK to be installed. No need to go home with dirty
bikes, just was them and leave them to dry while you sample a post ride
tea / coffee and cake.
Trek Demo Fleet - As a
Trek/Bontrager dealer we have also become a Trek Demo Daze centre.
Having a three Fuel EX full suspension mountain bikes, a Remedy 9 and a
Madone 5.2 road bike available to Demo. Let us fit and tune the
bike to enable you to really demo the bike where you're going to ride
it. Not much point riding a top end bike around a shop car park
when you can test it here!
