Rod,
Very interesting stuff. A sober reminder of the mountain we have to
climb in Chester where car culture dominates transport policy. However, we will have a new political regime
in place from April 1st. It will be interesting
to see if the new regime will be willing to take the decisions that will be
necessary to ensure the CDT does have an impact on cycling levels in the city.
I especially noted the comments about
the ‘adverse impact’ on other modes of transport which would result from giving
bikes any more road space or priority in the flow of traffic. I am reminded of the slogan, “Bikes Are Not
Obstacles To Traffic. Bikes Are Traffic.”
I like reading WTP&P. It contains excellent studies and analysis,
and is given away free for some reason.

I received this today and thought it may
be of interest to campaigners in Chester :-
Very interesting commentary on how and why a
cycling demonstration town
is not doing well - due to lack of the political will to tackle car
culture head on.
