Thanks for your enquiry, Laura
I'll check the current position in Wales. I do know some of my cycling chums use cycle racks on buses in Snowdonia. The wider current picture is unclear.
What I will do is loop your message into CTC's UK campaigning forum, and also the forum of the Cardiff Cycling Campaign. Some of those members may contact you direct with information or advice. May I ask that if they do, it would be helpful for all concerned if they cc their message to their respective forum. This will assist in gaining a wider picture
Here's hoping.........

In my role of active travel coordinator for Medway Council I am researching cycle racks on buses in the UK. I understand from a press release in Feb 05 (http://www.cyclingnorthwales.co.uk/pages/arriva_by.htm) that the Welsh Assembly Government funded new buses with cycle racks on the back. I am interested in getting some more information as we would like to consider something similiar to pilot in Medway.
- Are these buses with cycle racks still in operation?
- Do you know how much use they get?
- Is this something the ctc are keen to see rolled out in the UK?
- What type (make/model) bus were they fitted to or what type can they be fitted to?
Any information you would be able to give would be gratefully received.
PRESS RELEASE 14 February 2005
