I park my bike at Chester Station three or four times a week to get
to work in Manchester. At the moment several dozen cycles are parked
there each day, and the racks are usually full. The recently
published plans for `developing' the station show no provision for
cyclists at all.
If 'Sheffield' style racks are not provided under cover in an area
of activity (not out of the way, or in the rain), I'll either drive
to Chester, or to Helsby, or more likely drive the whole way since I
would already be in my car.
I don't know if the designers have just forgotten about cycling
altogether, or have shoved us to an unspecified area off the plan –
in which case it is unlikely to meet the need for convenience, cover
or safety. But there is a need for it to be considered now, before
more of us are forced into cars.
I'm fairly new to Chester - what is the best way of tackling this?
