Messages such as yours are heartening, Nic.
It's always nice to know about others sharing the daily challenge of getting the cycling message across. There's a song that used to lap across the airways - 'Silence is Golden'. Not in my book when its a cycle campaigning group line
I recently dropped a message onto this one requesting help with a promenade cycling issue. Silence, apart from one of our members saying he was opposed to it - despite it already being enjoyed in safety by many thousands along the coast of North Wales. I requested clarification - silence.
No, silence is not always golden. In fact in some circumstances it can make the difference between a courtesy and discourtesy.
Many in the community find it easy to oppose cycling and all it stands for. It take no effort - or imagination. Just a stubbon refusal to face the real world. It takes much more effort to promote cycling. A personal thanks for your efforts, Nic.

12 hour counts are at Canal Crossing/Deva Link Bridge and Brook
Lane/Northgate Ave Chester 21st 27th Sept
5 Hour counts usually at Brook Lane/Northgate Ave 8th 15th 20th 29th Sept
These may be at diff. times but the chap I spoke to went for a break at 10 & resumed work at 11 until Midday. If you enter the Northgate Park then turn back and go towards Blacon it counts twice and the more numbers the better those wanting the Delamere route funded the stronger hand they will have. Please circulate these dates. The letter in press is to scotch rumour that CDTS had folded, no doubt put about again by some CDTS fanatic. The Chester TUC secretary had heard this and let me know.Audrey----- Original Message -----From: Nic SiddleSent: 08 September 2005 20:21Subject: Re: countsI don't have the dates. ps do you know the planned locations?
Audrey Hodgkinson wrote:I have found out the hours for the 5 hour counts, it appears they work until 10 have a break until 11am the work again until 12. Or at least the chap I spoke to did this. Let me know if you do not have the dates to hand - I did send them to Simon but he has been/is away? After my letter about long awaited co-operation to start a meeting of county/city and Sustrans took place yesterday hopefully we should hear something positive at last. Audrey
