It's good that you have shared your enthusiasm for this ride, Graeme. After
all, what should a group line be for ? Thoughts on campaigning issues
certainly - but also a way of sharing the pleasure of discovering somewhere
you haven't been to before on a bike.
Bearing in mind the cycling folk lore attached to this area, and its
association with the writer and 'lantern lecturer', 'Wayfarer', you may
care to have a peep at the following webpage on the CTC Cymru North Wales
website - http://www.conwyctc.fsnet.co.uk/pages/wayfarer.htm
Regards to all
Roy

Subject: [cyclomania] Ceiriog Valley Cycle
> I have just been on a brilliant cycle in the Ceiriog Valley that runs
> west from Chirk. The full route is 27 miles but there are lots of
> shorter options if desired. A route map is available online at
> http://www.ceiriogcycleroute.co.uk/ or else a colour map is available
> from local Tourist information shops priced 50p!
> Some of the ascents are quite steep but you are then rewarded with
> excellent views and some sweeping descents. There are also some
> alternative off road sections. Lunch at Llamarmon DC is a treat.
> To get there either strap your bikes on the car and drive and park in
> the station car park at Chirk, which is at the start of the ride near
> the entrance to Chirk Castle, or else take the train from Chester to
> Chirk with your bike which somehow feels much better.
> Happy cycling!!
