An opportunity to contribute to this journalists investigation into the harassing of cyclists by drivers, and the attitudes of the police if a complaint is lodged.

Dear Phil and Roy - Many thanks for these contributions. They're helpful.
At the moment, we're unsure what type of article I'll be doing, but there is a good chance I'll be back in touch to follow up on these.
I've had several dozen responses now, but would welcome more.
Just to recap - the thrust of the piece is researching assaults or attacks on cyclists by motorists; the response of the police and the nature of the incident. Also, if you believe driver attitudes have worsened, that is useful to know.
Yours
Severin

RE: Motor Driver Harassment of Cyclists

Roy (and others),

I have been commuting by bike in Cardiff for approximately 15 years and have seen a deterioration in driver attitudes to cyclists in that time.
I have had water thrown at me and been shouted at from passing cars (presumably "jokes"), and been sworn at for turning right (despite signalling and manoeuvring in plenty of time to get on the centre line) - I guess I delayed the driver behind me for 15 seconds?

I have also been verbally threatened on my bike by a driver who thought I "bad-mouthed" him for speeding past our local primary school at 8.30 in the morning.

Last week while biking I caught up with a woman driving a small car full of children circulating a roundabout (slowly) while taking a mobile phone call.  I see drivers using hand-held mobiles almost every day - I thought this was illegal now?
