Apparently, Nevin had decent stats for the Cubs, but it seemed to me
that every time he came up in a clutch situation he struck out. He
also had the Roger Maris "I don't get paid to run into fences" attitude.
Oh. Wait. That is called the "I play for the Cubs" attitude. You
can't blame a player for doing as little as possible to collect his
paycheck since the management tolerates that behavior.
