ECGA works closely with City of Hartford to move Greenway ahead A task force convened by Hartford Mayor Perez has come to agreement on an improved interim route for the ECG through the city, using a combination of park paths, pedestrian promenades, and low traffic roads with shoulders and bike lanes.
The new route offers historical interest, bringing travelers within half a mile of the Harriet Beecher Stowe and Mark Twain houses. City approval of the plan is likely by the end of this year. The next step will be to install signs along the route.
ECGA Partners on site for future visitors center in WillimanticOn August 1, the Willimantic Whitewater Partnership, an ECGA partner, announced the purchase of a building along the Willimantic River in Windham, CT, to house the Partnership' s offices and a visitor's center. It could serve as the first visitor's center for the East Coast Greenway along our 3000-mile route, which passes directly past the property. Volunteers at the visitor's center will provide information about the ECG, including maps, brochures, and possibly merchandise.
