Subject: [1919BlackSox] Bridgeport, CT, Baseball Event

On Saturday, April 14, 1-5 PM, the Discovery Museum in Bridgeport, CT, is hosting a "Season Opener" event with a baseball theme.  Members of the Bridgeport Bluefish staff will be on hand ... there will be a chance to practice pitching & hitting skills at several hands-on stations ... there will be a number of special baseball demonstrations and displays on the science of baseball, and also an opportunity to learn more on the History of baseball in Bridgeport.

I know about this because I've been invited to talk about my book "Burying the Black Sox: How Baseball's Cover-Up of the 1919 World Series Fix Almost Succeeded," at 4 PM.  I'm not sure if other SABR members will be on the program; I'm hoping that the first paperback editions of my book will be available at this event.  There is an admission fee with discounts for seniors, students, groups & children (but not SABR members); call (203) 372-3521 for more information.

The Bluefish don't open their season till May ... they are one of the most successful Independent League teams, I think, and have had the right idea about marketing to fans since they started up.
