Hello, all. Steve Krevisky asked me to repost this here:
Hi all! From the feedback that I've gotten, Sat. April 16 seems good
for most of you to meet. It turns out that the New Britain Rock Cats
are home that afternoon, so why not meet at the park? Ken L. has
informed me that club officials could meet with us, so let's see if
we can do this, if that meets with your approval.
Please let me know what research projects you're working on, and
if you'd like to present in April. Getting Jim Bouton is a
possibility, from what I've heard. People ae working on stuff on the
old Conn. state league, so please pass on your thoughts on this to
me, and I'll get that to Jon Daly. It was suggested to me that we
have a chapter historian, so as to keep track of what we do, what PR
we get, etc. Anyone interested?
Regarding the possible chapter name, many of you like the Smokey
Joe Wood name. Some do not, since he wasn't born in CT., and he
coached at Yale, which is more southern CT. I would emphasize that
the chapter is for the whole state of CT. Having a name that would
give us visibility would be good for us, and the name should be
someone who had prominence in CT. Let's keep this discussion going,
and try to reach consensus.
I will be happy to be the point person, and the feedback was
good on this. I e-mailed Ryan Chamberlain in the SABR office
yesterday, asking for the April 16 meeting date to be in the SABR
bulletin for the next issue. I hope this works, as other details
need to be worked out.
Also, the NY regional meeting will be on Sat. March 12, at the
Mid-Manhattan Library in NYC. It would be nice to have some of us
there!
As always, please contact me with your concerns and thoughts.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!!
BEST WISHES, STEVE KREVISKY
