Okay, I delted the recent spam messages and got rid of the two members
who posted them. What follows is a message from Steve K:

Hi all! Hold the date of May 6 (Willie Mays' birthday!) for the next
gathering of the CT SABR SMOKY JOE WOOD CHAPTER! We will meet at 6 PM
at the Rock Cats' Stadium in New Britain, hopefully in the same suite
as last year. Please let me know if you can attend! Also, let me
know if you wish to make a presentation!
One of the items that we need to get moving on is our plans to
organize, in conjunctions with the New Haven Cutters, the Smoky Joe
Wood night at Yale Field on Sat. June 17. It will honor the Wood
family, as well as celebrate baseball in New Haven. We will be
working on a Wood biography, and we need to meet with Geoff Zonder,
down at the Yale archives, in order to pick out some good old
photos/stories, to be used for the PR for this event, as well as for
possible stuff to be passed out at the park.
We also envision a SABR table, along with authors selling books,
and a program that could have a Smoky Joe Wood baseball card to be
passed out to the attendees. We hope that the New Haven Register and
other papers, as well as TV/Radio stations will give the event
publicity and cover it.
UP to 5 people can go visit Geoff Zonder, as mentioned above. IF
you are interested in this, please let me know ASAP. Geoff mentioned
that good hours for seeing him are: 9-10:30 AM, or 2-4:30 PM, Monday
through Friday (though not this Friday, April 14).
WE also hope to meet soon with the Cutters, so as to continue the
planning for June 17.
