Hello Madeline.
We always start Serrada with a salute.
We salute upon entering and leaving class, and we salute the Grandmaster or highest ranking instructor, and each other.
The salute itself means respect.
A lot of Serrada people realize that the market for Serrada is not as broad as the one for FMA in general, so they try to add stuff like sinawali.
The first techniques taught should be the 12 angles of attack, followed by Outsideblock to an Angel One Strike etc.
Train hard and have fun!

Hello Everyone,
Blessings to you all.
I've cross training with many different Serrada groups/associations.
Some start teaching siniwalis first, some start with footwork, some
start with warmup exercises & jogging, some meditate then start
practice, some start by feeding angle #1 and working their way
through the basics & drills.
How does your Serrada group start?
Overall, once the stick are moving, I find there to be more
similarities than differences. Just find the variety of starts
interesting.
Peace,
