I do work from di Grassi, I find that his work ties in very well with Swetnam's manual.  I know the CSG (Chicago Swordplay Guild), they are good people.  I always enjoy getting together with them.

Hello!

Cool! My background in WMA comes from first fencing in college, my work as an actor, and my years with the Chicago Swordplay Guild. How's the Pallas Armatta working for you? I have a copy from the Arma Website - I like it but sometimes I just don't get what he's doing...Do any Di Grassi?

alan in Southold NY

Pallas Armata is a manual that was written in 1639.  In his manual he teaches the single rapier and the single sword, pretty much the same thing, against the right handed man and the left handed man.  di Grassi wrote his manual in the 1570's and it was translated from Italian to English in the 1594.  In his manual, di Grassi teaches several weapons including the rapier, rapier and dagger, back sword, pole arms (staff, bill, pike javilin, halberd)

I am not familiar with Pallas Armatta or Di Grassi? What is the Arma website, I will look it up and see what I can find. Thanks

I would be happy to have you come by and check out the school. The Rapier and Dagger class is held on every Tues. and Thrus. evening from 7 - 8 pm. You are welcome to come by and visit, as is everyone else on this list. If you come by, our room is in the back of the building and a little hard to find. Please call me at 408-857-0120, and I will make sure that there is someone there to help you find us.

AEMMA (Academy of European Midieval Martial Arts) has a great reference section with a lot of manuals on line.  Another web site that you can go to for manuals is ARMA (Association of Renaissance Martial Arts) has a list of manuals that you can look at and download, too.
