We can create fully customizable Surf Trips to meet every budget and skill level !! 6/13 - Even though the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation re-opened traffic on the southern Pan American Highway, the number of vehicles was much smaller than on any regular day, authorities report. The road is open only 5 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the highway police regulates tightly regarding speed, since many spots are muddy and skidding off the road is a permanent danger. In the meantime, repairs continue at the fastest rhythm possible, but the works won't be completed in less than six weeks, according to the engineers in charge. Traffic is also backing up at the bridges north and south of Parrita, along the coastal highway, so give yourself extra time for driving. CONTESTS - Witch's Rock Surf Camp hosted a benefit for its sponsored surfer, Luis Castro, ranked ninth in Costa Rica, who is in need of knee surgery that will cost $3,500. The benefit raised some money, but not quite enough to cover the costs. For information on how to donate to help this young man, please e-mail Ellen Zoe or Marcela @ Witchsrocksurfcamp.com. From - www.lasolashotel.com/soulstice.cfm - The Soulstice Open Expression Session is an annual surf contest created to bring the locals together in Playa Hermosa to develop programs that have a positive impact on the surf community. It takes place from June 21st to the 24th. Beach cleanup in Guacalillo on the 20th. The first leg of the Corona Triple Crown Surf Series will take place in Dominical on June 21st and 22nd. CRSURF will help sponsor the event, and the competition expects to draw a lot of international competitors. Ask us about our special travel packages (airfare, hotel, 4wd rental) for this event. ENVIRONMENT - Disco night Friday 6/20 at the Voodoo Lounge in Tamarindo. The fundraiser is planned to help out the local Surfrider Foundation chapter. Check out their cool flyer. Lots of clean, good waves and light crowds. The tides are too low now for afternoon sessions. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): These conditions will probably hold if the swell stays at this size. ** From Carlos at Costa Rica Aventuras (Boat trips to Witchs/Ollies) in Playa de Coco (6/14) - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: Witchs Rock: Las olas estan entre 4 a 5 feet con el factor viento onshore despues de medio dia. tide 12:05 / High / 8.1 feet. Ollies Point: Por la marea baja en la mañana esta perfecto con 4 a 5 feet no muy constante pero perfecto. 05:50 / Low / 7.1 feet WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): Para el fin de semana estara entrando un swell bueno del sur y con respecto al tiempo vamos a tener poca lluvia. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: Ollies Point por el tiempo en la marea y el swell que esta entrando. ** From Rafael at Witchs Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo - (6/14) Today back to Tamarindo, the conditions was small wave but good for longboard, a little onshore wind, sizes 2ft to 4ft, sunny day and good for take ten color, tomorrow is star a new swell and i hope the conditions making better see ya monday and have a good weeking..Pura Vida ** From photographer John Lyman, Lyman Photos in Playa Negra - (6/13) AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: The surf has been in the fun range with head high sets and fair to good shape. Lots of sunshine in the mornings, clouding up in the afternoons with rain happening almost everyday. Water temp is 84 degrees. Look for the waves to stay head high to a couple feet over head on the sets. With low tide in the early mornings this week, check out Avellanas early and Negra as the tide moves in. Things are a little mixed up and swirly, but the right spot can get you a good one. Tide is a bit low, but that's also providing some barrel sections. The wind is dead calm as of report time. There are a handful of guys out already. Expect the surf to improve with a fuller tide. Erik will be back with you tomorrow. Until then, go grab your board and get some surf!!
